Today, May 5th, is Red Dress Day. A day of remembrance for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit individuals.
This is more than a day to remember these individuals; it is a reminder of the crisis that is still prevalent across Canada. Between 2001 and 2014, the violent crime rate for Indigenous women was 4 times higher than that of non-Indigenous women. From this crisis came the ReDress Project, which created the lasting symbol of the red dress, a reminder of those lost lives and a call for justice.
At Gen7, we stand with Indigenous communities, survivors, and families that have been affected by this ongoing crisis. We are committed to supporting healing, raising awareness, and taking action towards justice and reconciliation. ❤️
