IMPORTANT - There was a break-in at our store, Greely Convenience Store at about 3:21 AM. We are open as the door and lock were damaged but with limited service. Inventory and cash were stolen.Please be patient while we serve you as it is a difficult time for us. Ottawa Police has all the information.

UPDATE 1 - WE ARE OPEN ON CANADA DAY 10AM TO 6PM

UPDATE 2 - A big thank you to the residents of Sunset Lakes for the food bank drive they organized last weekend. They filled up my car trunk with lots and lots of food for our Community Food Bank and had cash donations in excess of $125. Special mention for Tam and Rick for organizing this and thank you to everyone who has been keeping the Food Bank running with their donations. We are sure those in need must be giving you lots and lots of blessings.

I would like you to meet the young philanthropist of our community. These two young girls made a $200 donation to the Food Bank outside Greely Convenience Store last week. I was able to get a lot of useful things from the funds which we hope will help many.

I am personally very happy that the food bank initiative has made the young generation get involved in it. Both the girls did fund raising for the food bank. More than the amount, we must be happy about their intent to help others. A big thank you to their friends and family for supporting them. Thank you girls, you have a very big and kind heart!

For both the girls - A free slushy or a free ice-cream waits for you at our store! Please do come again!

To better serve our community, we have started a new service from our store. EVENT RENTALS BY GCS

We now offer rental tables and chairs for events, parties etc. We have started with folding chairs, kids chairs and folding tables. Hope to expand to other things with your support.

It took us some time, but it is finally done. We have expanded the food cupboard outside our store. Got a bigger one with shelves to better organize the food items. The new one will be used only for food, the old one will be used for pet food and toiletries if anyone wishes to donate. A big thanks to Michele Bonanno-Salmon and her husband Randy Salmon for their effort, time and monetary donations. Without them it would have been difficult for us. A huge thank you to the volunteers as well who find time to organize the cupboard. And thank you to all the neighbors for making the food cupboard a success. Let us keep doing the good.

Lastly, we wish to put a food cooler/styrofoam box in the new cupboard as well for food which should not be left outside for long like meat,milk etc. If anyone wishes to donate, please let us know.

3. Propane tank for bbq
4. Slushy for the kids

We were able to dig ourselves out of the snow and WE ARE OPEN ON FAMILY DAY!!!

Hello Neighbours! We would like to thank each and every one of you who has been directly or indirectly involved with the food cupboard outside our store . It has been there for only 3 months but the involvement of the community is great. We have also received some feedback mainly in the form of concerns like "many foods are not safe if it is too cold or too hot outside", "many people taking a lot of items as soon as somebody posts a photo of the cupboard being full", "many people wanting to donate toiletries, but it being not safe to keep it with food" , "the cupboard being a bit small" etc

So, since the assumption is that people want it to be there but probably have it better organized, we would like to take your suggestions on how to do it better. Please feel free to leave a comment or send us a message on facebook, or come in the store to talk to us. We would surely consider all suggestions and go with what would be feasible. Also, we will need our landlord approval if we use more space outside. Below is our plan and feel free to give suggestions to make it better.

We wish to get a bigger cupboard/shed alongside the present one, something like in the photo. Use foil insulation inside it. Have an insulated foam box inside for things like milk etc with lots of ice packs in it to keep it cool. And use the present cupboard for toiletries.

Any donations for bigger cupboard, foam cooler/ice box, foil insulation etc are welcome.

Hello Community! We are here to share two updates about our store.
First , our store is participating in a SOCKS COLLECTION DRIVE for the homeless and needy. So please feel free to drop off new pair of socks only in our store if you want to donate. The drop off box is inside the store. This drive is till Dec 10 2024 and all socks donated will be given to homeless and organizations such as The Ottawa Mission.

Second, we are now offering printing/printout, photocopy and scanning documents service. You can directly print from your phone. Available in color and black and white. We are also now selling shipping bags and shipping label pouches.

And lastly, thank you for all the support everyone has shown for the Food Bank outside our store. It has been a massive success. I hope we all have been able to help people in need.

I would like to share an update and thank everyone in the community who have made the Greely Food Cupboard a great success in such a short period of time. The generosity shown is just overwhelming. If one family comes to pick up food, 4 more come to donate and thankfully the cupboard has never been empty. Thank you once again for supporting this cause.

And since the donations were so much,we thought of sharing it with other like minded people who are there to help people in need. We reached out to Shawna's Outreach - Ottawa , and were happy to donate some to her noble cause. She makes food bags and gives it to homeless and needy people. She has been doing it for long and self finances it whenever needed. I am sharing a beautiful picture of Shawna and her husband, so if you wish to donate to her directly, you can contact her or drop off things for her program at Greely Convenience Store and we will deliver it to her. She accepts donations for food, cutlery, toiletries, gift cards, money etc.

Thank you Greely for supporting and being there on Nov 2 for the opening of the Food Bank. It was not a one person job, thank you to everyone who was present, thank you to everyone who has contributed, thank you to our landlord for allowing us to have this on their property, thank you to Greely Community Association and their lovely President for their support, thank you Michele Bonanno-Salmon and Randy Salmon for being a part of it.
This is open 24 hours and put up outside the store, anyone can come to take whatever they want and whenever they want.
