Saturday was a GOOD day. 🌷😊
For the third year in a row, we attended Shauna’s amazing Backyard Market at Lace Boutique Fashions
Fun fact: back in 2023, this market was the very first one we ever did. I didn’t fully realize until this past weekend just how far we’ve come—nearly 30 markets later, I’ve got my setup down to a science (pictures 1 & 2)
Looking back at photos from that first market (pictures 3 & 4), so much has changed:
The time: I spent a lot of time preparing for that first market, making sure everything was perfect. This weekend, I simply loaded my supplies, confident everything I needed was right where I left it after our last market. And I wasn’t stressed at all. That’s the magic of hard-earned rhythm.
The tent: We had to replace it last year after it blew away and broke when Greg was doing a market solo (low-key grateful that didn’t happen to me 😅).
The bin “bar”: It wasn’t a bad idea, but it didn’t quite look how we imagined—and it was ridiculously heavy to lug around.
The wooden bar top: I used to bring this solid plank to every market, even when I was on my own. It nearly broke my back. Retiring it was a good call.
A lot had changed since our first market, but a lot has also stayed the same.
Every year, our vendor neighbours have been Ania and Brian from Little Brown Farm I always enjoy chatting with them, and this year I picked up the cutest dried flower garland—it looks so lovely on my mirror (pictures 5 & 6).
I ended the day with another beautiful Grand Bend sunset—a place I’ve been spending a lot of time in lately (picture 7).
Markets are always tiring and they always take time. They’re not always glamorous—but they’re always rewarding. I had so many wonderful conversations with both new and returning customers.
Shoutout to all the other vendors who spent their Saturday sharing their goods, and thank you to Shauna for creating a space for us to do so! 💖
Here’s to the quiet progress we don’t always notice in the moment. I’m proud of how far we’ve come with our markets.
