Saint Patrick’s Day is here, and this year, we want to help you celebrate in style! St. Patty’s does not mean Irish Whiskey and green beer are prerequisites – who wants a beer belly anyways?! Pay homage to this fun Irish holiday with the below suggestions.
Celebrate the Colour Green
Did you know that Cabernet Sauvignon tends to show greener notes, like bell pepper and eucalyptus? Australian Cabernet has a particularly beautiful balance of green notes, fruit, acidity & tannin which pairs lovely with the famous Irish Stew.
Looking for a Pot O’ Gold?
If you stick to white wine all day—try whites that have seen some barrel age or barrel-fermentation, so they are rich-looking with sublimely golden-hues. Pinot Grigio is a popular and very characteristic wine which can vary in colour, sometimes offering a deep golden yellow.
If you like Guinness
Guinness’s robust, stout qualities are admirable—that rich, creamy, malty, chocolatey character that warms the heart. Certain wines possess the same qualities, so break out some bottles of rich, red wine, layered with flavors of cocoa and mocha and high-toned espresso notes. Merlots tend to have a range of similar flavours including cocoa, and clove.
