Its not just about providing exotic snacks and hard to find vintage apparels... as a passionate lifelong thrifter and yard sailor, snacklord and munchie hoarder, these are two things Im very excited about, but The Capsule is only a part of a bigger mission.
The Capsule’s inception started as “EyesOnUsVintage” some years ago. Instagram reselling thrift store finds. ‘Pop Ups’ outta the back of my old benz out front of concerts and events were the early days. The true inspiration behind the endeavour was to create room for conversation in a community through a tangible concept, a concept I was familiar with, passionate about, and watching steadily grow and attract new audiences. Attempting to put the “EyesOnUs” our music, my friends music, and our scene and the community surrounding it, through something more palatable for broader audiences. I saw the clothing as an ice breaker or conversation starter. Skip forward a few tshirt sales and years later, and its more than just clothes. Nostalgia and all of the feelings that come with it are the icebreaker now. Stretching from retro candy, movie release posters of cult classics, hiphop vinyl/cassettes & MORE! and so “The Capsule” was born July 2021.
The store has grown into more than just a retail location. We have many frequent flyers that may only pop in for a soda but will stay for the camaraderie. Many relationships between other artists or even just like minded folks around the community have started at The Capsule over similar interests in the products and culture we try to curate.
My initial goal was to create conversation in a town where it seemed like nobody was talking about the things I was. The store has become a local hub for anyone young or old with appreciation for the culture thats stemmed from 80’s/90’s. Through sticking to what we’re passionate about, believing in it and holding space to support those who also believe in their vision, we have exceeded our expectations, and the future excites all who come around The Capsule. In our 3.5 years around, I feel like we have started a conversation.
