Rant to the Cow 🐄

A bit of a bizarre one from last night…

A man dressed in a cow onesie came into the liquor store and distracted our staff member while a woman entered the store, grabbed a bottle and ran straight back out.

As soon as she left, the man said he had “left his wallet in the car” and then ran out of the store — heading in exactly the same direction as her.

We have reported the incident to the RCMP.

We’re posting this to alert other local business owners. If you see these two working together or recognize them, please be aware and keep an eye out.

And yes… we really did just write “man in a cow onesie” in a post about a theft. 🤦‍♂️🐄

Theft at Campbell River Lodge Beer & Wine

Just a heads-up for other local businesses to be aware.

Today, while Holly was working, an unknown male entered Campbell River Lodge Beer & Wine asking where he could return bottle deposits. Holly directed him to the local recycling depot.

Instead of leaving, he walked to the back of the store, picked up a Molson promotional bag containing two tall cans, and left without paying. He was seen leaving on a bicycle with a trailer attached.

We don't recognise him as a regular customer, so there's a chance he may try something similar elsewhere. The value of the theft wasn't significant, but we'd like to make other businesses aware so they can keep an eye out and hopefully prevent the same thing from happening to them.

He's now banned from Campbell River Lodge Beer & Wine.

On a personal note, Holly is okay, although she's understandably frustrated that she didn't spot what was happening at the time. These things happen quickly, and this wasn't her fault—it was simply an opportunistic theft.
