Bouctouche First Nation, NB
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anne MacDonald (Simon), 81, who passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB, following a courageous battle with kidney disease.
Born in Island Falls, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Peter Simon Sr. and the late Alice (Sanipass) Simon.
Anne enjoyed playing pogo games especially scrabble with her “brudder” watching Netflix crime shows and movies, sewing and observing the many birds that came to her window. She cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Louis, and her cat, Siddy.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her five children: Jeffrey LeBlanc (Kim), Chief Brenton LeBlanc (Marsha), Paula LeBlanc-Bastarache (Jase), Jason MacDonald (Dawn), and Tanya MacDonald; as well as her chosen daughter, Shelley Ann Simon-LeBlanc (Denis), all of Bouctouche First Nation. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Anne is survived by her siblings, Wilfred Simon (Evelyn), Ann Mary Steele (David), and Bryan Simon (Maria), as well as her sister-in-law, Donna Simon, all of Bouctouche First Nation.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Phillip (Aubrey) MacDonald, and her two brothers, Peter Simon Jr. (Peggy) and Vaughn Simon.
Visitation will be held at the Bouctouche First Nation Band Office on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:45p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place afterward.
