Today is a very scary day in our valley. There is a very large aggressive bush fire burning out of control. It’s a terrible time, but great example of how our community gets together and supports each other. People are out there in their vehicles helping move stock, clear containment lines and support their neighbours.
We know we live in a high bush fire risk area and we plan for it. Many of our community are our volunteer firefighters, we also have the support of other brigades and firecom in Tamworth when fires get like this.
This photo depicts a terrifying reality if the NSW government go ahead with their poorly planned transmission lines. Under that smoke is a small cluster of four houses just outside the village. Our two RFS trucks were 50km helping out at another fire when this one started. In the smoke to the top right you will see a dot which is an aerial fire fighter plane. It was because of this plane and helicopter that these houses were saved. The water collected was from Chaffey Dam which will be blocked to aerial planes with the proposed transmission lines. Effectively we won’t be able to protect our homes.
The alternative easement which our community has suggested to Energyco is in a lower fire risk area and won’t block access to essential water sources.
Energyco - your easement proposal is wrong!
