🍷 Wine Options Night: Mediterranean to McLaren Vale

Brie and I first got hooked on wine options nights back when we met in Marlborough, NZ — they were always a great mix of good wine, good people, and a bit of friendly guessing. With the diversity we have here, McLaren Vale is the perfect place to bring that idea to life.

So… we’re making it happen.

If you haven’t been to one before, a wine options night is a relaxed, team-based tasting where you’ll work in groups of 4 to taste through flights of similar wines, answering a few multiple choice questions along the way. Think less exam, more conversation, curiosity, and a few laughs.

For this first one, we’re exploring Mediterranean varietals and how they’ve found a home in McLaren Vale — with: • 3 white wine flights
• 3 red wine flights
• 18 wines tasted across the night

It’s all about comparing styles, testing your palate, and discovering just how much range there is in the region.

We’re aiming to run 2–3 of these a year, each with a different theme — so if this sounds like your thing, follow along, keep an eye out for future dates, and let us know what you’d love to taste or put your palate to the test with.

Spaces are limited, so grab your team and book early.

Join us for a fun and interactive wine experience exploring how classic Mediterranean varietals have found a home in McLaren Vale.

March is always a busy time for our region and our family. Normally I'm a vintage widow as Brie is busy making wine but this year we were able to get away for a family holiday in April 😯

We went down to Tasmania to check out a bit of the state, catch up with wine industry mates and explore what Tasmania has to offer. One word, wow!

I was blown away with how beautiful the state is, how easy it is to get around and how nice everyone was. Plus seeing our mates and checking out new wineries was just another benefit.

To wrap up our holiday we got a few days along the Great Ocean Road with some wonderful mates who came to visit. What a way to finish a terrific school holidays.

It makes all the hard work worth it 😁

Thanks for the terrific write up 🤩

Big news from My McLaren Vale!!

After 22 years crafting incredible wines, Brie is stepping out from the winery and onto the road — joining My McLaren Vale as a tour operator!

Yep, you read that right… you’ll now be guided through the region by a fully qualified winemaker. Not just someone who talks about wine, but someone who’s lived it, breathed it, and made it for over two decades.

McLaren Vale has always been packed with amazing female talent — from winemakers, viticulturalists to chefs — and now we’re proud to bring something new to the mix: a female-led wine tour experience with serious industry cred.

Expect behind-the-scenes insights, real stories from the vineyard and winery, and a deeper understanding of what’s actually in your glass (plus plenty of fun along the way).

We’ve also just launched our brand new website — would love your support checking it out and sharing it around!

If you’ve ever wanted to explore McLaren Vale with someone who truly knows the craft, Brie’s your person.

Cheers to strong women, great wine, and unforgettable days in the Vale 🥂

We finally got the family together to hire ebikes from SA eBikes | McLaren Vale Bike Rental and we were asking ourselves why we haven't done this earlier? It was the absolute best day out.

Shayne and Rachel were amazing from the minute we arrived at the McLaren Vale information centre and set us up with the bikes. They explained the differences between the styles of which they had a few and how they worked then every family member picked their own.

After a little ride around to get used to how they worked we were off. We headed down the Shiraz trail to Willunga then west towards the coast. The first stop was a juice, coffee, iced coffee and toastie at Maxwell's Grocery before continuing to the beach.

We had a walk on the beach in front of pearlaldingabeach before riding along the coast, and by some paragliders to have lunch at the Star of Greece Restaurant | Port Willunga kiosk over looking Port Willunga beach.

The bike batteries were well used on the way back up towards Willunga and after a quick stop at home we were off to cellar doors. We stopped into Samson Tall Winery and said hello to Paul, Miller and Perry and laid in the sun before going to see Mikey at Bondar Wines - Selina, Sophie at Sherrah Wines and Andy and Ang at Andy Coppard.

We dropped the bikes off super happy, tired, laughing and telling stories of the day we will remember forever.

My wife and I are used to sharing this amazing region with visitors (by car) and we have explored a lot as a family but this had to be the best day of exploring the region with our kids we have ever had.

Thank you Shayne and Rachel and if you're a visitor or a local find a day to take out these awesome bikes and check out what this McLaren Vale Wine Region region has to offer 😁
