News from the Meadery!

Well, this was a pretty nice email to get while rattling along on a bus through Mexico... 😁

On top of our crazy result at Mead Madness Cup Americas last week, we've just been told that Amrita Park Meadery is a finalist in TWO categories in the 2026 Gympie Business Awards!

Still slightly shellshocked from Mexico — 3 Gold, 3 Silver, Best Producer and somehow managing to take 1st, 2nd AND 3rd Best in Show — so this is another very nice bit of news to add to the trip.

Not bad for a little meadery making mead in the Gympie region from Queensland honey and interesting seasonal local produce we can get our hands on. 😁

Very proud to be flying the flag for our little corner of Queensland.

Now back to watching Mexico go past the bus window...and more Mexican Mead 🇲🇽

🇲🇽🍯 More Mexican mead adventures!
Next into the glass at La Tabernícola is F***g from Skål Meadery — and these guys are seriously impressing us.
A beautiful berry mead made with honey, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry and strawberry. A little sweeter than the last one we tried, but still wonderfully balanced and surprisingly light on the palate.
The mulberry/blackberry and blueberry lead the charge, with the strawberry sitting quietly underneath — and it works beautifully. Plenty of berry character without becoming heavy, jammy or cloying.
Another tip-top mead from some awesome Mexican mead artisans. 🇲🇽🐝
One of the great things about travelling halfway around the world for Mead Madness Cup Americas has been discovering just how much interesting mead is being made here. Different honeys, different fruit, different approaches — and plenty for us to talk about over a glass. 😁

When in Mexico… drink Mexican mead! 🇲🇽🍯
One of the best parts of travelling for the Mead Madness Cup Americas has been getting the chance to seek out and taste meads made here in Mexico.
Tonight’s discovery is Lágrima de Sangre from Skål Meadery — a Viking Blood-style cherry mead. At a hefty 16% ABV, we expected it to be a bit of a monster, but it’s actually remarkably well balanced: dry, plenty of cherry character, and the alcohol carries the flavours rather than overwhelming them. A really enjoyable mead. 🍒🍯
We’ve got a couple more Mexican meads lined up for tonight too… purely for research purposes, obviously. 😆
It’s been fantastic seeing how different mead makers around the world approach the same drink we’re so passionate about.

Found a few delicious meads on the mead tour of Mexico city. Some ok, some amazing. In the amazing category is this delicious 6% traditional made with Guava honey called Fenrir!! Light and sweet with lemon notes.

Very tasty and reminiscent of our recently sold out "Poppo" Lemon 🍋 mead.

If you ever see this on your travels we highly recommend
