🕊✨ Dove-shaped and steeped in history, colomba is Italy’s Easter treasure!

This beloved treat has two fascinating origin stories from Lombardy: one legend tells of Saint Colombano’s vision of a heavenly dove inspiring him to bake a bird-shaped cake for Easter 🌤, while another recounts how the people of Pavia offered a dove-shaped sweet bread to King Albion in 572 to save their city 🏰

The modern colomba owes its fame to Milanese pastry company Motta, who revolutionized it in the 1930s, crafting the Easter version with its iconic almond glaze and candied orange peel 🍊

Today, colomba comes in two tempting varieties: the classic with candied orange and no raisins 🍞, and modern twists filled with jams, pistachio cream, or decadent chocolate 🍫
