When you want something a little different but still seriously tasty.

Tomfoolery is one of those small Barossa producers that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but they really know how to make a good bottle of wine. Always bright, full of flavour, and just plain enjoyable to drink. Whether it's a juicy Grenache or a lighter-style Shiraz, these are the kind of wines that are easy to love.

The winery is run by a small team of locals who live in the region and know it inside out. They keep things simple, work with older vines, and focus on making wines that are full of character. They’re not chasing awards or trying to impress critics. They're just making good wine that tastes great.

Perfect for a dinner with friends or a relaxed weekend meal. We’ve only got a small amount, so come by and grab one while they’re still on the shelf.

We’re Ryde’s best-kept secret, wine, beer, and spirits worth travelling for. Family-owned, we stock a seriously good (and hard-to-find) range. If it’s on the shelf, it’s been tasted and handpicked just for you.

This one’s for when you want to open something proper. 🍷

Elderton’s Command Shiraz isn’t just any Barossa red — it’s one of those wines people talk about for a reason. Big, rich and full of flavour, but with the kind of smoothness you only get after a few years in bottle. The 2016 has hit that sweet spot now. Lots of dark fruit, a bit of spice, and a long, warm finish that hangs around.

The vines are over 125 years old, grown without irrigation in some of the best soil in the Barossa. The Ashmead family still runs the show from their old family home in Nuriootpa, and they’ve been making this wine for decades.

This isn’t one to open on a random Tuesday. Save it for a proper dinner, a big moment, or someone who’ll really appreciate it. Let us know if you want one set aside.

Forget everything you think you know about Hunter Shiraz. 🍷

It’s light, fresh and seriously easy to drink. More about juicy fruit and good vibes than heavy oak or big, boozy flavours.

Made by Angus Vinden, who’s taken over the family vineyard his parents started back in 1990. These days he’s doing things his own way. Farming without chemicals, making his own compost, and letting the chickens and ducks run wild 🐓🦆 (with peacocks and geese on the way). It feels more like a proper working farm than a slick winery, and honestly, you can taste that in the wine.

This Shiraz is bright, a little spicy, and goes down a bit too easy. We like it slightly chilled. Perfect for a BBQ, a pizza night, or just something fun midweek.
Not much stock. Worth grabbing while it’s around.

We’re Ryde’s best-kept secret, wine, beer, and spirits worth travelling for. Family-owned, we stock a seriously good (and hard-to-find) range. If it’s on the shelf, it’s been tasted and handpicked just for you.

Why our craft beer fridge hits different 🍻

Most of what we stock is small-batch, limited release, and brewed fresh. We’re talking beers you won’t find at the big chains. Often gone within the week. Blink and you’ll miss them.

Dion’s the man behind the lineup. A long-time homebrewer and certified beer tragic, he tastes everything before it hits the fridge.

Want to talk yeast strains? New NEIPAs? Or just want to try something new? Dion’s here every Friday from 4 to 7pm pouring free tasters and talking beer. Come by, say hi, and grab something cold before it disappears.

Meet the minds behind Patch Wines

Kirilly Gordon brings over two decades of winemaking and viticulture experience, with vintages across Victoria, France, and Italy. She balances a full-time winemaking role, raising two boys, and running a thriving veggie garden. All while crafting some of the most precise, quietly confident wines we’ve seen.

Matt Talbot started in the vineyards of the Yarra before building deep knowledge through years in hospitality and wine sales. He believes every bottle should tell a story. Shaped by place, people, and process.

Together, they make thoughtful, minimal-intervention wines from hand-picked fruit across Victoria. No shortcuts. Just honest, well-crafted bottles built to be enjoyed.

Come in store to pick up a bottle from Patch Wines:
🍋 2024 Patch Marsanne – Sourced from Nagambie Lakes, this wine is textural and gently waxy, with notes of lemon pith, almond meal, and a subtle saline edge that lends freshness and balance. A vibrant expression of a classic variety.
🍒 2024 Patch Cabernet Franc – Grown in the Grampians, this is a lighter, more aromatic take on the variety. Expect bright red cherry fruit, fresh herbs, and a lively acid line. Serve slightly chilled for maximum charm.

There are Cabernets. 🍷Then there are Cabernets worth building a cellar around.

Deep Woods Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is the kind of wine that rewards patience. It is already turning heads with gold medals 🥇but the real magic will come with time.

This is a serious Margaret River Cabernet. If you are wondering why that matters: Margaret River has the perfect combination of maritime climate, gravelly soils, and consistent vintage conditions. Think Bordeaux finesse with Aussie attitude. The region consistently produces some of the most age worthy Cabernet in the country.
Deep Woods pushes that reputation even further. This 2022 is layered with blackcurrant, graphite, cedar, and fine-grained tannins. It is built to go the distance.
If you are starting a cellar or want a future showpiece for a special dinner down the line, this is one to grab now and forget about for a while.

In store now. $100. Limited stock. Ask us about ideal drinking windows and how to store it right.

Friday beer tasting: Hawkers & White Bay in the house 🍻

This week’s tasting is a showdown between two of Australia’s most respected breweries, one from the old steel guts of Rozelle, the other from the hop-charged heart of Melbourne.

⚡ Hawkers (VIC)
Founded in 2015 by Mazen Hajjar, a guy who literally built Lebanon’s first craft brewery before landing in Reservoir. Hawkers made its name with unapologetically bold beers: massive IPAs, decadent stouts, and seasonal one-offs that keep hop heads on their toes.

⚡ White Bay (NSW)
Launched in 2020 inside a 150-year-old steel mill on the Balmain Peninsula, White Bay is all about clean, crisp lager styles made with precision. From their Czech Pils to their Munich Lager, this crew proves that lager can be just as layered and complex as any hazy boi.

🕓 Join us from 4pm Friday for free tastings. Whether you're into hops, malt, or just good banter with Dion, we've got a spot at the tasting bench with your name on it.

👋 Meet the mates behind Sundowner Brewing.

Sundowner started with four mates who met in kindy and never stopped hanging out, drinking beer and watching footy. It’s the beer you open after a win, at the BBQ, or when you're parked by the beach watching the waves roll in. 🌅

Come in store to pick up the best of Sundowner Brewing.

Featuring 👉
🌅 Sundowner West Coast IPA: Crisp, hoppy and straight to the point. Tropical vibes, clean finish, perfect for a sunset sip.
🌅 Sundowner Pale Ale: Easy-drinking and full of fresh citrusy hops. It’s light, fruity, and smooth enough to keep you reaching for another.

Scotch fillet night? We’ve got your drink sorted. 🥩🍷🍺

Teaming up with our local butcher _meat_boutique we’re pairing their grain-fed scotch fillet with something that’ll do it justice whether you’re more wine or beer.

Wine pick: Go for a classic, Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon. You want bold fruit, a bit of tannin, and that smoky depth to match the richness of the cut. A Coonawarra Cab or Barossa Shiraz will absolutely sing with the char.

👉 If you like it a bit fresher, try a GSM or something from McLaren Vale with a bit of whole-bunch spice.

Beer pick: A robust porter or hoppy red ale. Look for something with malt backbone and just enough bitterness to cut through the fat. Balances the richness without overpowering the meat.

Quick cooking tips:
🥩 Bring the steak to room temp before cooking (no fridge-to-pan shortcuts).
🥩 Salt generously at least 30 mins before.
🥩 Hot pan or grill, 2-3 mins each side for medium-rare (depending on thickness).
🥩 Rest for at least 5–10 mins. Don’t skip it. That’s flavour time.

🍺 Friday Tasting: Ocean Reach Brewing | 4 to 7pm

We’re cracking into Ocean Reach Brewing this Friday. Come by between 4 and 7 to see what they’re all about. 🌊🍻

Started in a garage with a bit of hope and a lot of beer, Ocean Reach is Phillip Island’s first brewery. Simon and Alexandra Bismire kicked things off back in 2016, with Simon’s dad Wayne helping out too. What started as a holiday surf trip turned into a full-on brewing adventure.

Everything’s brewed on the island. Fresh, unfiltered, full of character. From crisp Pilsners to hazy IPAs and seasonal sours, their beers are all about balance, flavour, and coastal vibes. 🍺🌿🍑

Dion’s picked out a few of their best for the tasting. He already has a favourite. Ask him. He won’t hold back.

We’re Ryde’s best kept secret. Family run and fully stocked with the kind of wine, beer, and spirits worth travelling for. If it’s on our shelf, we’ve tasted it first.

Why Vermentino should be the next bottle you buy 🍋🌿

Vermentino is one of those low key white grapes that quietly overdelivers. It grows along the Mediterranean coast. Think Sardinia, Liguria, southern France. And it’s known for its crisp acidity, citrusy lift and that salty, sea breeze kind of finish.

In the glass, expect lemon zest, green apple, maybe a bit of almond or herbal edge. It lands somewhere between Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. Bright and refreshing but with a bit more texture and presence. If you’re into those varieties but want something less predictable, this is your move.

It’s also doing really well here in Australia. Places like McLaren Vale and the Riverland are growing it with real success. The grape holds its acidity even in hot weather, and local producers are leaning into its food friendly style and giving it a bit more weight on the palate.

What to eat with it? Think oysters, grilled prawns, herby chicken or anything that involves olive oil and lemon. It’s the kind of white you want open when the BBQ is on or the seafood is hitting the table.

We’re Ryde’s best kept secret. Family owned, independently run and fully stocked with the good stuff. If it’s on the shelf, we’ve tasted it and chosen it for a reason.
