Join us for tasting this Saturday 1-5pm!

1. Grace Gris de Koshu (White)
Pear, a nutty sake-like thing, yuzu, slight green herb. It has some gloss to it, white fruits in the main, quite flavoursome (in context), light powdery texture, with a softish finish of good length. A lovely thing to drink.

2. Domaine Thomson Explorer Central Otago Pinot Noir 2024
“It’s splendidly fruited and fragrant on the nose, showing dark plum, cherry, thyme, clove, and almond notes, leading to a succulent palate offering silky texture and plump mouthfeel. Harmonious and smooth with a lingering, delectable finish.”

Winter is definitely approaching, you can feel it in the air. Join us for a winter reds tasting this Saturday!

The best way to stay warm and fuzzy? Sit by the fireplace with some seriously over-delivering local wines.
Please allow us to introduce the Wine Culture Winter 6 Pack! This special pack features wines from three absolute heavyweights of Australian winemaking:

1. Giles Cooke - Master of Wine and founder of Thistledown
2. Craig Isbel - Ex-Torbreck Chef Winemaker for more than a decade, founder of Izway.
3. John Duval - Ex-Penfolds Chef Winemaker for 16 years

These are big names making outstanding everyday wines that comfortably punch well above their weight.

Wine Culture is speaking in monochromatic today.

Because if Standish were a man, he’d be wearing a sharp black suit, a perfectly tied four-in-hand knot, polished black boots, and a classic side part.

If Standish were a woman, she’d also be in a tailored black suit, Wayfarer sunglasses, a black silk scarf tied around her hair, driving a sleek black convertible 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster.

Elegant. Timeless. A little bit badass.

Holy Raw Schist! This Saturday we are tasting Luis Seabra, one of the most exciting producers in the Douro. You can’t call yourself a connoisseur if you haven’t tried these yet.

Xisto Ilimitado 2024
Apple, pear, white peach, almond meal, a sea salt thing, with a little smoky candle wax. It has somethirg of a Chardonnay weight to it, a little smoky again, distinctly saline, a bit nutty, powdery in texture, lemon oil and floral perfume, with a green olive finish of excellent length.
Lovely wine.

The 2023 Xisto Cru Branco comes from a 90-year-old vineyard planted with a Rabigato field blend with 30% other grapes, Códega, Gouveio and Donzelinho Branco, in the village of Mêda at 750 meters above sea level. The bunches were destemmed and crushed before pressing and then the juice was let to decant for 48 hours. It fermented slowly in used 228-liter French oak barrels, where it matured with full lees and no bâtonnage for 12 months. It is serious and balanced, with integrated oak and a sense of harmony and freshness. It has a balanced mouthfeel and a velvety and very elegant palate with focused and clean flavors. It has good ripeness and 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.29 and 5.8 grams of acidity.

It’s Savaterre + De Salis + Joshua Cooper Chardy tasting today!

Savaterre Chardonnay 2024

This is a richer iteration of Savaterre Chardonnay with not much in the way of struck match (though, granted, that can sometimes vary between bottles in my experience). It’s glossy and creamy but has firm cut of grapefruit acidity, there’s fine powdery grip to texture, a savoury nutty element and something of a sour yoghourt flavour, honey nougat, spicy oak, a mix of nectarine, pear, lime and melon with a tangy and savoury finish of outstanding length.

96+ points- Gary Walsh, TWF

Joshua Cooper Central Victoria Chardonnay 2025

Delicious drinking. Lemon curd, lemongrass, lemon verbena with dashes of red apple, peach, vanilla and touches of flint with saline minerality. It’s got a nice haze to texture, a gentle and soft flow, a touch diffuse perhaps but refreshing anyways. Perfume rolls out with green apple, green mango, salted cashew and faint clove and herbal lift. Delightful. Everything just so. Good freshness too. Happy days.
