In a time when geopolitics and alliances are constantly shifting, a couple of breweries from across the ditch have delivered regional stability with good beer.
A couple of weeks back, and after a long absence, Ballast Point Brewing Company's classic Sculpin variants reappeared locally. Then it was a trio of Mikkeller beers coming through... Was I caught in a time-warp that had returned me to the heady days of craft beer's pioneers and adrenalin-fuelled imports?
As it turns out, two New Zealand crafty's had jumped into the breach and arranged to produce these beers for the Australian and NZ market. Behemoth Brewing, in Auckland, is responsible for making the Sculpin range, while NZ's best - Garage Project - have partnered with Mikkeller for the Asia Pacific region. Good news indeed.
We can only hope these arrangements continue into the future, but for the moment it has to be said: "Chur Bro"!!
