Ola amigos!

Here's whats on the menu for this Friday's Tasterooney!!!

In MAYLANDS:

A piece of history right in our backyard! Swan Valley royalty (old Houghton's) are blessing us with a range of their estate wines and some from Margaret River too! Its quite amazing what these guys have done with reviving the Swan Valley and displaying what the AMAZING old vines on their plot can do!

In SUBIACO:

A newcomer to our shores, established in 2000, focus on quality, classic, elegant styles of wines with a focus on local Margaret River varietals. A 100% family owned and run winery which what we absolutely adore!

An all WA lineup this week team!

Couple big ones this week amigos! 

So who's coming in? 

Over in SUBIACO:
Hailing from the Sunbury Wine Region – one of Victoria’s oldest wine regions and the closest to Melbourne, we have the wonderfully surprising !!!  The Sunbury region is most famous for classic cool climate Shiraz, but it also grows superb Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In addition to these varieties we are super super excited to be pouring their new superstars Fiano, Montepulciano and Sangiovese!!!! Can't bloody wait to show ya 

Over in MAYLANDS: 

Good ole is paying us a visit from Mount Barker! Since 1978 these guys have been making premium delicious wines that time and time again prove themselves worthy of our attention. Great wine starts in the vineyard, and with their sustainable organic practices they've been producing epic Chardonnay and Pinot which we are super excited to pour for you all! 

So come on through normal time folks!

A perfect lil french number to start your week!

With the grim winter weather still lingering like a bad smell, a Grenache/Syrah blend from ole the 'Luberon' is a guaranteed win for the table wine enthusiasts!

Aged in concrete for 6 months, notes of blackfruit (blackberry / blackcurrant) with lovely licks of liquorice. Silky tannins. Elegant and fresh!!!!!!

Oh and it's only $25......

The bad thing about ageing wine is all the waiting around you have to do, but luckily Commune has done that for you!

We have secured a tiny quantity of Loire Valley legend Marc Bredif Vouvray from 2012 and 2014 (fantastic vintage) that are now for sale in our Maylands store.

Marc Bredif’s ethereal Chenin Blanc remains a benchmark for the region — vibrant, nervy and exquisitely detailed in its youth, brimming with crystalline citrus and orchard fruit. With time, it evolves into something deeply complex and utterly compelling, revealing layers of dried honey, lanolin and hints of calvados, all carried by a signature seam of mineral acidity that lends the wine its hallmark freshness and poise. Could probably go for mother 20 years. Run don’t walk for this one friends!

Meet the winemaker: La Violetta

We’ve got the man himself, the big kahuna, the whopper meal WITH CHEESE. Mr Andrew “Hoads” Hoadley coming up to Perth chew some fat, talk some turkey and drink some wine.

Thursday 28th August at 7:00pm in Maylands we will be tasting through 7 of his past and present wines. He will discuss his winemaking journey and his latest releases. One not to be missed and capped at only 20 tickets (which we’ve somehow already sold 12 of before being advertised).

Tasting Line Up for tomorrow folks!

Over in Maylands we have the wonderful returning through our doors with their amazing textural, aromatic, and undeniably smashable!!!! wines that are crafted for taste, not tradition.

And in Subiaco Alex will be pouring his very own PINOTPALOOZA in store!!!! Pinots from around the world that will show the complexity and subjective-ness of the temperamental variety that will surely make you go "Oh that's different!"

Tasting lineup for this FriYAY!!

The theme is cool climate this week folks!

With in Maylands, hailing from Mornington in VIC pouring their INCREDIBLE Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir with a couple other supporting casts that will blow your socks off!!!

Comparatively we have returning to our Subiaco store with exciting new vintages and old favourites!!

It's WA vs VIC this week on and off the pitch (Go Freo!)

Friday tasting update!!!

Here's whats on the menu team:

In MAYLANDS we have the ever wonderful urban winery pouring their fun and energetic wines coming out of the Mildura/Geelong region, all Italian varieties that pop in the glass and your mouth!

In SUBIACO we have pouring the best of France!!! From Chablis ➡️ Burgundy ➡️ Bordeaux, an elegant lineup that you do not want to miss!!!

BABY GOT BACK!!! The ultimate winter warmer has at last landed back into our store after we got cleared out a few weeks back. sensational Lazarus!!

Cork dorks read on for the break down; twenty, yes, twenty varieties (Primarily Grenache, Barbera and Shiraz) from previous vintages are passed over the crushed skins of the most recent vintage (reverse ripasso method) and blended together for 10 months of maturation in old oak and stainless steel.

This orchestra of grape types could be disjointed but under chief conductor Sam Berketa they become greater than the sum of their parts. Dusty spices, Figs and Sour cherries predominate, someone slow cook some spiced lamb baby, cause big mumma’s coming to dinner!!!!

Let's see who we got on for our Friday Tasterooney!! 

Over in MAYLANDS: 

We have an appointment with Dr Hobbs! Hailing all the way from the USA, we're getting a taste of that California sun baby! 

Dr Quinn set up back in 2020 as a project to focus on sustainable wine production practices. From lighter bottles to recycling wastewater, the goal is to show that great wine can be made with fewer resources. It's so hard to find affordable American juice that isn't mass produced and we are sooo excited that Dr Hobbs has come to us to fill that void! So gear up for a taste of Summer ya'll! 

Over in SUBIACO: 

finally gets the spotlight this week and we are so thrilled!!! This is the passion project of Paul “Bear” Dahlenburg and Lauretta “Laurie” Schulz, a family-driven winery nestled in the granitic foothills between Beechworth and Wangaratta. With a focus on reviving the past and forging a bold future, their wines are a celebration of perseverance, craftsmanship, and the stories that make wine so special. Eldorado Road is quietly making waves—don’t let it pass you by.

We’ve said it before and by gum we shall say it again. Margaret Rivers has to be one of the last remaining hidden islands of insane price/quality ratio left on this nook of South Western Australia. This is a hill that we will die on.

We’ve got our hands on a box or two of their 2015 Allouran. A blend of 74% Merlot / 26% Cabernet Franc.  It combines the richness and concentration of the exceptional Merlot with the structure and fragrancy of the Cabernet Franc – making one of the most famous Bordeaux blends and giving up a wine of exceptional balance and length.

Where else are you going to get a 10 year old Bordeaux blend that stands up to the test of time, stands up to the greats and for only a third of the price?!?
