Tell us a little about yourself:
Who are you, and what do you love to create?
I’m Cassie, the artist behind Cobradah Studio, based just west of Ipswich QLD. I’m a bird loving, colour obsessed maker who creates bold, playful artwork inspired by Australia’s beautiful backyard birds. I love turning my paintings into everyday things that bring a little colour, joy and personality into people’s homes.
What do you make?
Tell us about your creations and what makes them special to you.
I create bold, colourful artwork inspires by Australia’s beautiful backyard birds, turning my original paintings into prints, cards, stickers and other everyday goodies. My style is playful, bold and unapologetically colourful. I love taking birds we see all the time and giving them a personality of their own.
I want my work to feel accessible and fun, bringing a little bit of Australian character and colour into people’s everyday lives.
How did your creative journey begin?
What inspired you to start making and share your creations with others?
Cobradah Studio started in early 2025 when I began painting Australian birds and exploring what I could do with them. What started as a creative outlet grew into something much bigger when I sold my first painting and realised other people connected with my work too.
Fr me, creativity is about more than making something pretty. It’s a way to slow down, express yourself and give your brain a little breathing room. I wanted to create art that people could enjoy in their everyday lives, and experiences that remind them they don’t have to be an artist to be creative.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Mostly in the birds themselves! I love their colours, their personalities and the funny little things they get up to in our backyards. There’s something about a cockatoo looking like it has absolutely no business being there, or a galah having a bit of a moment, that makes me smile.
I’m also inspired by colour, everyday life and the people I meet through my business. I love taking something familiar and giving it a bold, playful twist.
Do you have a favourite product?
Which piece holds a special place in your heart, and why?
My tea towels are my favourite because they bring my artwork into the everyday. I love the idea of one of my birds hanging around in someone’s kitchen, quietly brightening up an otherwise ordinary day. They’re practical, colourful and a lovely way to bring a little piece of Australia home.
What do you love most about being a maker?
I love that I get to take an idea from a little sketch to something real that someone can take home and enjoy. I also love the freedom to experiment, try something a bit different and let my business evolve as I do.
The best part though, is hearing that something I’ve made has made someone smile, or seeing people discover that they’re more creative than they thought. That’s pretty special.
Is there something fun or surprising you’d love our customers to know about you or your business?
Cobradah Studio is very much a one-woman creative operation. I do indeed wear ALL the hats! I’m the artist, product designer, tea towel sewer, kit assembler, order packer and chief problem solver. One minute I’m painting a kookaburra, the next I’m surrounded by fabric, packaging materials and approximately 17 ideas for what to make next!
I also love finding ways to take my birds beyond the canvas, from everyday homewares to creative workshops and community art projects.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Lta community?
I love being surrounded by people who genuinely care about what they make and the stories behind it. There’s something really special about a community that celebrates handmade, supports small businesses and gives customers the chance to discover the person behind the product.
It’s lovely knowing my little birds are finding homes alongside so many other wonderful Australian made creations.
And finally… tell us a fun fact about yourself! ✨
I am a qualified Interior Designer, which means I am constantly moving the furniture around while my family rolls their eyes like they didn’t know this was going to happen. I like to think of these little side quest moments as a way to reset my brain and refocus… eventually… on the other 47 things on my to-do list.
