Cellar Drop has us stopping on Swan Street this weekend!

July is here and that means Le Tour de France so it’s time to get inspired by the rolling French countryside and drink something refreshing (because it’s hot there) but medium-full bodied (because it’s cold here).

Adam, who our regulars know as a Master of the Chardonnay recommendation, has taken a varietal sidestep and chosen Béatrice et Pascal Lambert’s, ‘Le Droit’ Chenin Blanc Chinon to enjoy.

As a fridge staple, he’s opted for a Non-Alc 4-pack (it’s July after all) from those skilled Kiwi brewers at Garage Project. Guilt-free flavour is something our entire team values.

Adam’s nailed it – as usual.

Oh, and here’s a track he loves at the moment too. As a bonus for those of you who like music. 🔈

🍷 Konpira Maru Wines in Fitzroy North, 4pm – 6pm 🍷
Made with grapes from all over Victoria, these wines ooze juicy good times and are made with minimal intervention for all you LoFi lovers out there. There’ll be blends, a Pét Nat, a skinzy number and even a chillable Red.

Staying Southside?
🇪🇸 Jorge Navascués Tasting in Elwood, 4pm – 6pm 🍷
Coming from the Cariñena, Spain, these wines are all class and structure. Jorge is a third-generation winemaker who’s blown us away with his Grenache and Macabeo cuvees.

If you’ve visited our Smith St store recently, you’ll have had the absolute pleasure of meeting Josh, our new store leader!

He’s taking over this weekend’s Cellar Drop with two Yann Bertrand beauties.

“I can’t stop thinking about these.

Triptyque 2023 is a juicy blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault made after a hailstorm wiped out Yann’s fruit. His mate Thibault came through with grapes from Tavel and what Yann did with them is magic. It’s silky, bright and super alive, the kind of red that’s pure joy to drink.

Lantignié is classic Yann Gamay from high in the granite hills. Bright, crunchy, with lifted perfume and that no additions freshness I always go back to. It’s vibrant, honest and disappears way too quickly.

These are the wines I get excited to share. Full of life, personality and just really good energy in the glass.”

For this weekend's Cellar Drop, Geelong store leader and master-host Conor, is sharing his picks for summer that hit hard in the taste and taste-maker departments.⁠

Starting off strong, he's going for Domaine Rolet's Crémant. Made in the same way as Champagne—without the champers price tag—it's rich and creamy, with a fresh snap of green apple on the finish. ⁠
⁠
And for such a great choice, Conor deserves his flowers. Enter: Vouvray. Lifted and floral with a moreish sweep of honey and apple before being tied neatly together with some lovely texture. Serve it with a generous wheel of Brie and you'll have your friends talking about your hosting skills for months to come.⁠
