Last week, the 2026 Young Gun of Wine winner was announced — and excitingly (though not surprisingly), it was also Adam’s and my standout pick from the tasting that day: Lauren & Matthias Utzinger of Utzinger Wines.
We’ve been big fans of Utzinger Wines for quite some time and are proud to have been carrying their wines. Their wines consistently impress with purity, precision and energy — beautifully expressive cool-climate Tassie wines that truly capture the character of the region.
Now is the perfect chance to discover (or revisit) these award-winning wines from Tasmania.

The 2025 Sorrenberg Gamay has just arrived, and as always, quantities are incredibly limited. Bright, fragrant and beautifully savoury, it’s a stunning expression of Beechworth Gamay — packed with wild red berries, spice and that signature Sorrenberg texture and freshness that make these wines so collectible.
Year after year, Sorrenberg continues to attract a cult following for its thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking and remarkable vineyard character. The Gamay is consistently one of the first wines customers ask for each release season, and we don’t expect this vintage to last long.

This week, we’re welcoming one of Victoria’s most exciting small producers — Jean-Paul Trijsburg, the face behind The Happy Winemaker.
Originally from the Netherlands, Jean-Paul’s journey took him through Burgundy, Germany, Spain, Chile and South Africa before settling in Ballarat, where he now crafts small-batch wines with a hands-on, minimal intervention approach. His wines are all about purity, place and drinkability — honest expressions made with plenty of character.
A two-time finalist in the Young Gun of Wine awards, Jean-Paul has built a loyal following for his thoughtful, vibrant wines and quietly adventurous style.
Small production, seriously good drinking — now in store.
