In McLaren Vale, South Australia, Bekkers Wine is crafted by respected viticulturist Toby Bekkers and his French-born wife and winemaker Emmanuelle.

With a philosophy shaped by both Australian landscape and French heritage, their wines are precise, expressive and grounded in place. This week, our Curator’s Picks bring together four materpieces that reflect the depth, place, and personality of Australian producers.

From the Barossa Valley, the 2022 Elderton Command Single Vineyard Shiraz shows layered spiced red fruit and dark berries, shaped by time and careful oak maturation. In the Adelaide Hills, the 2024 Tapanappa Tiers Vineyard Chardonnay delivers precision and restraint from one of Australia’s most revered vineyard regions. Margaret River is represented twice, with the 2021 Fraser Gallop Estate Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon, structured and composed, and the 2023 Xanadu Reserve Chardonnay, offering balance, texture, and clarity of fruit.
