G’day folks !

Come visit us at Mt Barnett Roadhouse , see the wonderful gorges nearby, wolf down a mouth watering Barnett burger (so big you won’t need tea!) and then laze away the hours on the beach at Manning Campground.

Roadhouse open 8am-4pm daily.

Manning Gorge Campground is OPEN!

Thanks to the hard work of our team we have been able to open Manning Gorge Campground a couple of days early!

The Roadhouse is also now open daily 8am - 4pm. Our kitchen is open 8am -2:30pm, so grab yourself a delicious homemade burger before you head down to explore the beautiful Manning Gorge.

**Please be aware that the road heading east to Kununurra is still closed. Keep an eye on the Main Roads Travel Map for updates on opening.

Mt Barnett Roadhouse Easter Long Weekend Trading Hours

Thurs 2nd April: 10am - 2pm
Good Friday: CLOSED
Saturday 4th April: 10am - 1pm
Easter Sunday: CLOSED
Easter Monday PH: 10am - 11am ONLY
Tuesday 7th April: 10am - 2pm

***Please note Manning Gorge Campground and Manning Falls are still completely CLOSED for the Wet Season and will open early May***

The Gibb River Road is currently open to 4WD (under 5T) from Derby to Mt Barnett ONLY. The road is still closed travelling further east and completely impassable due to river heights.
Galvan's Gorge is currently the only gorge accessible due to seasonal closures and track conditions.

Due to the road conditions we have not had a fuel delivery yet this year. As a result limited fuel is available until we are able to get our first delivery. If you are travelling these April holidays, please consider that our priority is to keep fuel available to our communities and we ask you bring enough fuel to get yourselves home. Once the road is accessible for fuel trucks, availability will return to normal.

2026 SEASON Update :

BOM Confirms Major Wet Season Reset Means Snow in The Kimberley this July!

Following what meteorologists are calling a "historically unprecedented overcorrection" of the recent wet season, the Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed that the Kimberley is entering an emergent ice age just in time for July.

Experts claim that extreme climate change, combined with a record-shattering La Niña, has permanently altered the region's air currents, transforming it into the Southern Hemisphere’s premiere ski and skate destination.

"We knew it was a big wet, but we didn’t expect the entire climate system to hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and reset to 'Arctic,'" said a BOM spokesperson.

“Locals are advised to swap their cork hats for beanies and their thongs for wool socks, effective immediately."

Thanks to modern weather data predictions and the BOM’s latest predictive visual models, we have managed to get an exclusive first look at the new "Manning Falls Winter Wonderland."

As you can see, the ice is thick, the waterfalls have completely frozen into epic climbing walls, and we have deployed snow cannons to ensure a consistent powder base.

A chairlift has been fast-tracked and is already operational.

Dust off your skates and get ready for the most bizarre Kimberley holiday ever!

Campground Manager Glenn has been issued with three sets of Woolen Toe Socks to go with his Rockos pluggers, and now more than ever he will be relying on his Broncos trackie top he has been rocking since 1992.

He has been seen this morning lining the inside of Akubra with Lambswool. Top idea Glenno!

Camping will go ahead as normal and there will be Hot food and plenty of fuel at the roadhouse.

On the plus side for cost of living, we won’t need to fill the eskies with ice each arvo!

Mt Barnett Roadhouse is now recruiting for the 2026 Dry Season and we’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable people to join our team in the Kimberley, WA.

Mt Barnett Roadhouse is a busy, remote roadhouse located on the Gibb River Road. We provide fuel, groceries, takeaway meals and manage the popular Manning Gorge Campground. We are the local store for several nearby remote communities and pride ourselves on offering friendly, high-quality customer service. Life and work here is varied, fast-paced, and incredibly rewarding — and with the backdrop of one of the most spectacular parts of the country.

About the Roles
All-Rounder duties include:
• Customer service & retail. This includes both shop retail, general hospitality and visitor interactions.
• Short-order cooking. Takeaway meals, coffees as well as school lunches for our local school.
• Housekeeping & cleaning.
• General roadhouse, gardening and campground duties
Additional 2IC duties include: shift management, money handling, and providing relief cover for Roadhouse Managers as required.
• All roles are full-time casual positions (flexibility for the right candidate
• Start dates available throughout the season
• Full training provided on site— no prior experience required
• Hourly rate + super + extras

Location & Requirements
• Enjoy working in a small team, and have a positive, can-do attitude. You are happy to learn new skills, pitch in where needed, and make the most of your days off exploring the Kimberley region.
• A unique and remote work location, closest town is Derby, over 300km away.
• Own 4WD & accommodation essential (ie caravan or camping set-up)
• Manual driver’s licence essential
