DAY. TWENTY. FIVE 🎄

You did it. And we’re finishing with an absolute unit. Double Trouble IIPA from Blackflag Brewing x Behemoth Brewing Company.

This beer walks in, kicks off its boots and announces “Merry Christmas ya filthy animals” before handing out presents. It’s big, bold, citrusy, resinous, tropical and yet smooth in a way a 9% beer has no right to be.

A proper celebratory beer, the kind you sip with respect while basking in your Advent Calendar glory. Congrats, legend. You made it to the end, you deserve... a glass of water 🎁🍻😂

Merry Christmas you lot, we hope today's an absolute cracker!

Day 24 brings us Christmas Eve! And tonight’s beer is pure cosy magic. Snowys Winter Ale from Frogs Hollow Brewing Co. has been aging beautifully since winter, picking up rich chocolatey and toffee warmth that makes you want to throw on a scarf even though it’s the middle of summer.

It’s malty, soft, lightly sweet, a little roasty... like a festive dessert in a glass. The kind of beer you sip slowly while pretending you’re tucked inside a snowy European chalet instead of sweating through the Aussie summer. A perfect Christmas Eve nightcap. Leave a little out for Santa... or don’t 🍻

Day 23 and we’re getting poetic, because Sailors Grave Brewing kinda has that effect on people. Their Wattleseed Golden Ale is sunshiney, subtle, earthy, slightly nutty and very Australian in that “quietly brilliant and doesn’t need to shout about it” way.

The native wattleseed brings this gentle roasted nuttiness that plays perfectly with the soft malt and floral hops. Smooth, golden, grounding… basically the beer equivalent of golden hour at Cape Conran. The perfect calm-before-the-chaos beer for Christmas Eve Eve.

Day 22 and we’ve hit the classy end of town. Eden Brewery's Gamay Ray is a Red IPA brewed and aged in former Gamay barrels from Dawning Day. In this beauty, you get all the notes expected of a beautifully balanced red IPA... malty sweetness, stone fruits... but layered with subtle berry vibes and that “oh hello, complexity” moment you don’t usually expect from a beer with a superhero name.

It’s bold, structured, a bit boujee and still absolutely a Red IPA at heart. Think: Christmas fruit compote meets resinous hops meets someone swirling a wine glass and saying “you probably wouldn’t understand”.

Day 21 and we’re entering coffee territory, because at this point in December, whose body isn't primarily fuelled by caffeine? Longstocking Brewery’s Espresso Porter tastes like your morning coffee met your evening beer and they decided to co-parent your sanity.

Rich roasted malt, smooth espresso, a little chocolate and a clean finish. It’s comforting, cosy and honestly way too drinkable for something that smells like the inside of a café.

Day 20 and things just got dramatic. No Country For Hazy Beers is Bright Brewery’s love letter to the classic West Coast IPA. It's crisp, tropical, piney, dry… none of that soft, pillowy haze business.

This is a beer with convictions. A beer that stands on its porch, squints into the distance and mutters something about “the old ways.” Expect citrus, resin, pine, a clean snap of bitterness and a finish so sharp it could cut wrapping paper straight. If you’ve been waiting for a proper WCIPA moment in this calendar... this is your main character scene.

Day 19 and we’re levelling up (again). The Right Stuff Northern IPA from Common People Brewing Co is bold, confident and full of character. It's basically the beer version of that mate who insists on carving the Christmas ham even though no one asked.

Brewed in Bangalow up in the Northern Rivers NSW, this one brings the vibes: punchy hops, stone fruits and a proper IPA bitterness that taps you on the shoulder like, “hey mate, pay attention.” Big flavour, clean and crisp finish, beautifully balanced. Not intimidating, just quietly impressive, like someone who owns a surfboard and knows how to use it.

Day 18 is here to remind you that sometimes the simplest things are the best things. Like a cold Pacific Ale on a hot December afternoon. Dusty Lizard Brewing's take is bright, breezy and fruity without trying too hard (unlike us attempting to wrap gifts with 100% recycled paper that absolutely refuses to fold).

Think soft citrus, a little passionfruit and that “ahhh yep, that’s summer” moment with the first sip. Clean, easy, refreshing... The beer equivalent of sticking your head in the esky.

Day 17 and we’ve hit the hazy sweet spot. Cupitt's Estate's Hazy Pale is soft, fruity, breezy and basically tastes like a long picnic lunch overlooking the vines at their Ulladulla estate. (If you know, you know.)

Expect gentle tropical notes, a pillowy mouthfeel, low bitterness and that classic haze glow that makes you feel instantly more relaxed, even if your to-do list looks like a Bunnings receipt.

Day 16 and we’re taking a brief holiday from the chaos of December... straight to Dortmund. Yulli's Brews’ Dortmunder Export Lager is clean, crisp, lightly malty and just fancy enough to make you feel like you know things about European beer styles (even if you absolutely do not).

It’s got that gentle sweetness, that soft noble-hop lift, that “I’m lager but with main-character energy” vibe. Smooth, balanced, refreshing, perfect for when you want something classic but not boring. Take a sip and let that flavour transport you to that place your pre-Christmas life admin isn’t piling up.

Day 15 and we’re taking a sharp left turn into fancy territory. An Earl Grey Lemon Sour by Flamin Galah Brewing Co... because sometimes a beer should taste like a cocktail, a citrus grove and a tea party had a three-way 🙈

Bright lemon, floral Earl Grey and a zingy sour pop that wakes you up faster than your phone dropping on your face mid-scroll. It’s refreshing, boujee and just weird enough to make you question everything in the best possible way 🍋✨

Day 14 and things are getting serious. Fixie Imperial Stout by Five Barrel Brewing is not a beer, it’s a commitment. A bold, boozy, chocolate-espresso-smelling hug that could probably file your taxes and tuck you into bed if you asked nicely.

Rich dark chocolate, plum pudding, dark fruits... it’s basically dessert wearing a leather jacket. Smooth, velvety, confident. And absolutely the kind of beer you sit down (with intention) to enjoy.

Take your time with this one. Savour it. Whisper sweet nothings to it if you must. (This is a big, big boy pals, so standard drink warnings apply, obviously. And stay hydrated.)
