LAST SATURDAY 🍻 a week on…

Beers + sunshine + people - tornado

But first let’s have a look behind the scenes as the crowd began to filter in on what was one hot summer’s day!

Part One - The beer, the bar, the water, the stage and a few eager beer lovers to begin with.

FORTY ONE SECONDS OF THE LG BEER FEST 🍻

1.01pm - The first patrons arrive to get the coolest seats!

1.05pm-9.15pm People just kept streaming through and it was hot!

1.15pm - Madly ticking boxes behind the scenes. Was it 300 bags of ice? Water features activated. Mist hoses on!

3.00pm - The good vibes were rising with the temperature. Melting icecream (thanks for braving the weather Scoops Cart). The Snak Shack was cooking in more ways than one in the Food van!

5.00pm - Outdoor stage activated as The Stables was the place to be.

6.00pm - The second wave of people streamed through.

8.48pm - The tornado arrived in full force! Gazebos collapsed while people hung on to umbrellas for dear life. Power went out! This was Jarryd from The Snak Shack’s cue to leave! Thanks for toughing it out. Cooked!

8.53pm Powercor notified us that the power would be restored by 11.30pm!!

8.59pm - Brought out the candelabra so we could see. Internet down for a bit as punters dug deep into their pockets for cash! The LG Group sought out generators to reinstate power.

10.00pm Success! Generators lit us up like Luna Park and The Railway Dogs played on! We made the call to extend the night til 11pm to a very appreciative audience!

11.00pm Bar closed. Mission accomplished!

Thanks to the public - almost 300 people - who braved the heat wave and showed up! We were blown away by your commitment to attend from Melbourne to Wartook and The Little Desert to Estonia and support this new event for Horsham. It could so easily have been another ‘Use it or lose it’ scenario. You all just proved that Horsham loves a beer fest!

THE LG BEER FEST TORNADO!
A memorable night! Everything was going along fabulously until a mini tornado hit town for 5 minutes last night. Thanks to one of our patrons, Kate Heard who took this footage!

We lost power after this, so we brought in generators to keep the fest going!

Thanks to everyone who stayed calm and helped hold down umbrellas. Unfortunately a few won’t be going up again and a couple of gazebos have joined Dorothy in Kansas!

Our photo gallery will be going up over the next few days. Stay tuned!

MEET THE LADS & AND THE VENUE…

The LG Group is made up of four brothers; Adam, Peter, Luke & Beau Ladlow. This is where the term ‘lads’ came from - Ladlow, believe it or not…maybe not!

Anyway they all got together last night to begin setting up the bar to create The Poultry Shed Pub and The Stables Lounge! What other names would you expect the sheds at a showgrounds to be called? 😜

There are some pretty cool spaces at the Maydale Reserve and the lads can’t wait for you to kick back and enjoy the beers and entertainment they’ve got lined up for the inaugural LG Beer Fest on Saturday! It’s going to be hot but we’ll keep you cool 😎
