To Our Valued Customers,
From July 1, a number of major government changes are coming into effect that will directly impact small businesses like ours:
Minimum wage and award wages are increasing by 3.75%, the second time in 12 months.
• Superannuation contributions will rise to 12%.
• New licensing fees and regulations are being introduced for to***co retailers in NSW.
• Electricity prices are set to rise by up to 9.7% in some areas, hitting small businesses hard.
• The overall cost of living continues to rise, including insurance premiums, supplier costs, freight, electricity, water, council rates, licensing fees, and other overheads that most people don’t see behind the scenes.
We’ve done everything we can to absorb these rising costs but unfortunately, we’ve now reached the point where we have no choice but to increase our prices. This decision is not taken lightly, it’s simply what we need to do to keep our doors open.
We hear a lot, that’s the best and the worst part of being a local store in a small town. People come in for more than just groceries and food, they come in for a chat, to share news and to connect. So yes, we’ve heard the talk that we’re ‘too expensive” and while we understand where it comes from, it still saddens us. The reality is, our costs are significantly higher than major retailers and we don’t have the buying power they do. We’re not making large profits, we’re just doing our best to stay afloat.
We know everyone is doing it tough right now and the last thing we want to do is add to that pressure. That’s why we’ve chosen to introduce these price changes gradually, rather than all at once. We’re doing our best to ease the financial impact on our customers because we’re living through this same struggle too. It’s a stupidly hard time for so many people and we truly get it.
Your support means everything. Every dollar spent here helps keep our small town business running, locals employed and our community strong.
Thank you for continuing to shop local and standing by us during these challenging times.
