We’re honoured to welcome 5th Generation Vigneron, Hamish Thomson from Best’s Great Western for an intimate tasting at Timber Door Cellars. 🍷

Best’s is celebrated for its 160+ years of winemaking heritage, old-vine plantings, and wines that capture the soul of Victoria’s Great Western region. This is your chance to taste through a selection of their most exciting releases — from elegant Riesling and Chardonnay to the benchmark Shiraz and Cabernet that have defined the region.

Join us as Hamish takes us through a line-up that reflects a Masterclass in Best’s wines while sharing the stories of heritage vines, family custodianship, and the enduring legacy of one of Australia’s most important wine estates.

It doesn’t have to be International Shiraz Day to celebrate great Shiraz at Timber Door Cellars!

Buy a glass of 2022 Mayford Wines Porepunkah Shiraz or 2023 MMAD Blewitt Springs Shiraz and receive a free tasting pour of the 2016 Tahbilk 1860 Vines Shiraz (RRP $360).

Tahbilk’s ‘1860 Vines’ planting was nominated by renowned USA Wine Spirits magazine as one of the 25 Great Vineyards of the World. The vineyards selected were those where “the terroir; the total environment of a place, including soil, climate, aspect, vine and even history is most clearly perceptible in the wine.” This wine is crafted from those very Estate plantings that are amongst the oldest original Shiraz vines in the world, this iconic Tahbilk release introduces a fragrant nose of bright red berries mingles with spice, tea leaf and truffle aromas to a velvety palate of dark cherry and plum fruits alongside warm earth and black olive characters.

Entropy Wines Willow Grove Vineyard Savagnin 2023 – Gippsland- $55 - your price $49
This is probably my favourite non-oxidative style of savagnin as it’s delicious, fresh and lively but also complex and detailed.

Savaterre Maurizio Sagrantino 2018 – Beechworth - $85 – your price $79
Hand-picked fruit, 20% whole bunches, natural open ferment. Matured 18 months in Burgundian oak (25-30% new), unfiltered.

Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No. 3 2021- Yarra Valley $110 – your price $99
A blend of 35/35/12/7/6/5% touriga nacional/tinta cão/tinta amarela/tinta roriz/alvarelhão/sousão, all sourced from 1990 plantings. Yarra Yering and winemaker Sarah Crowe have hit the jackpot with their superb line-up of 2021 reds.
