The Freo Doctor Liquor Store. Fremantle’s oldest bottle shop.
The Freo Doctor Liquor store is the oldest bottle shop in Fremantle. Independently owned and operated since 2006, we have an unrivaled stock of international beers and ciders plus a massive wine and spirit collection.
Established in 1928 by the Oceania Trading Exchange, the site of The Freo Doctor Liquor Store was established by the Sgro family, provedores of Italian foods and beverages to the local Italian community as well as ships and their passengers and workers. During the 1930’s, Oceania’s added a Maddington based winery and South Coogee market garden to their business, supplying wine for the premise, local business and export. Two of the original wine vats still reside in the cellar of The Freo Doctor Liquor Store.
A heritage listed building since 1997, 27 Arundel Street was operated by Vintage Cellars until 2006 when local proprietor Jock Wilberforce took ownership.
