New Beers
Behemoth Putins Lapdog DBL Hazy IPA - Folks, let me tell you, I’ve had a lot of beers. Some say the best beers. But this one? This one is tremendous. It’s big, it’s strong—just like my relationship with my good friend Vlad. We get along so well. Some people, very nasty people, say I shouldn’t be his lapdog, but guess what?
I’m back, baby! Back on his lap, getting all the belly rubs, and let me tell you—it’s the best lap. So warm, so powerful, just like this Double Hazy IPA. We’re talking double dry-hopped, folks. Huge flavour, bigger than NATO’s problems. It’s juicy, it’s hazy, and let’s be honest—just like my foreign policy, it’s got zero transparency. One sip and you’ll be begging for more, just like me begging for Vlad’s approval. And the hops? Massive. Trust me, I know hops. Nobody knows hops better than me. Some say this is collusion. I say it’s delicious. 8% ABV

Behemoth Ri-Walken - I've got a fever, and the only prescription... is more Riwaka! Listen kid, this aint just any Hazy Pale Ale - this is Ri-Walken. We got a special visit from some very special friends this week with an early release of the latest Picardy Tete de Cuvee Pinot Noir!!! Thanks Dan & Fran!!!

"Wow, this is something special…very special. This is at the pinnacle of the Pannell family’s quest for great Pinot Noir.
The 2020 vintage is spoken of in hushed tones, yet this one is pushing it all the way. It was a little closed when tasted but you don’t have to look far to see its greatness. It’s a multi-clonal blend which contributes to its complexity and feel on so many levels.
It’s exquisitely balanced and poised yet it carries an explosive payload of intensity and layered complexity."....................

Tasting note by Tom Kline, Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy:
Deep, dark and brooding aromas of blood plum, forest berries, dark cherry and woodsy spice to start. Its demureness draws you into the glass to find layers of earthen savouriness, petrichor, a glimmer of graphite and black tea.
On the palate, there’s a welcome core of dark cherry minerality bringing lift and spine surrounded by plum, brown spice, graphite and earth. It’s powerful and concentrated, but so masterfully controlled.
Fine tannins coat the mouth and a wash of dark fruited acidity freshens a long finish. This is coiled and brooding with restrained power aching to release. One for the cellar. Drink from 2029 - 2036.

As well as the Fairbrossen Chardonnay - Produced from our Wilyabrup vineyard. Whole berry pressing followed native yeast fermentation in a combination of new and old French oak. A minimal intervention wine, that expresses the power of fruit from the Gin Gin clone Chardonnay, while complexity and structure are enhanced by traditional winemaking.

Cirillo Vincent Grenache - In the glass, the wine is bright, ruby garnet in colour, with youthful purple hues hinting at its vibrant nature. The nose greets you with inviting aromas of fresh red fruit, pretty spice, and subtle white pepper. The palate is generous and expressive, delivering intense true varietal characteristics with a delicately rounded structure and bright, crunchy acidity.

La Tour du Bon Bandol Rouge 2021
55% Mourvèdre, 25% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 5% Carignan

This Bandol Rouge 2021 has an attractive, vibrant deep purple colour with a graceful, open nose that displays blackberry, spice, bay leaves and pepper; it is both carnal and virile and very pure and fruit driven.
It is also very fresh in the mouth with serious concentration - with this 2021 vintage the fruit tone is blue and it's silky as it breaths, the finish offers a pretty, violety inner-mouth perfume. Finishes long, deep and satisfying - Superb

An absolute headbanger's ball of citrus and resin characters dancing over roasty bones of malt and coffee. Baltic Porter - From the depths of Europe comes the dark design of this richly flavoured beer, a historic staple given the Reckless treatment in signature style. A lagered melody of lush malts thrumming with dark toffee and chocolatey currents, it’s a smooth, smokey and mouth-filling creation with a just-dry finish that’s as broad and deep as the Baltic Sea. Baltic Porter 2025. .5% ABV | 3.3 STD | 440ml

Sunrise Saison - Rustic in style and super fresh, this dry, refreshing saison offers subtle earthy and spice flavours from noble hops, with speciality French saison yeast adding citrussy fruit characters and a little peppercorn kick. A pale malt backbone with Naway Yila Buradja’s locally sourced sunrise lime and native pepperberries round a palate that finishes light and zingy. Adding to the international ranging this week:
Alleguini Valpolacella - rich and creamy, light tannins and long length.

Prunotto Barbera D'Alba - bright ruby red color. The nose is generous with notes of blackberries and cherries. The elegant palate delivers excellent freshness.

La Petite Perrier Pinot Noir - This little cheapy - Dense dress of a pretty ruby color with fringe very slightly orange. A nose with typical Pinot Noir fragrances, softly vanilla and violet. Vineyard and concentrated from the attack, the mouth develops a beautiful volume with a long finish with fruity notes

A couple of new additions to the store this week with Terra Slate coming to play.

Linea Retta Colli Tortonesi - rich white bold wine with stewed fruit and a long length of pallet and a slight saltiness this is a perfect food wine especially for a rich seafood pasta.

Cherubino's On The Fringe Range Pinot Noir - amphora made Pinot, this wine is quite textural with a bit of smokiness and a little bit of body. 20% whole bunch.

New Distillery in store with a Karridale based distillery called Wild Lot. Head distiller Rebecca dropped in for us to sample some of her products and we decided that you guys need to get around this fantastic local sustainable distillery. Wild Lot at present create two distinct gins:
Fortuna - Namesake Goddess of Fate, a gentle reminder to slow down and enjoy the journey. A classic juniper forward gin, featuring bright Karridale lemons and hand harvested farm fresh herbs and spices. Also as a little added extra each bottle comes with a thyme seed infused swing tag for you to plant to grow your own garnish.
Lime Wire - If fortuna is thoughtful, then Lime Wire is here for a good time!! Zingy, bright, and impossible to ignore - this one's all citrus pop and good vibes. Mad with Augusta grown finger limes, it;s loud in the best kind of way.
