IGA Purple Bra Day is only 49 days away and, thanks to our terrific customers, we have kicked off our fundraising efforts with a bang!

During the coming weeks you will see some staff sporting the iconic purple bra over their Tucker Fresh uniform as a reminder. If you want to make a donation ask how at the till.

All funds raised go toward:
- Providing specialist breast cancer care nursing, counselling and financial support
- Support for over 1,700 families each year
- All money raised stays in WA

It can be overwhelming looking at all the options, so we thought we would help break it down (feel free to add any relevant info that others can benefit from knowing);

🧁 Baker’s Yeast – A living organism that makes dough rise by feeding on sugar and releasing gas. Perfect for bread, rolls, and pizza bases.

🌿 Arrowroot – A fine white powder from plants that thickens sauces, soups, and desserts. It’s a natural, gluten-free alternative to cornflour.

🧂 Baking Powder – A mix of acid + base that creates bubbles when wet and heated, helping cakes and muffins rise. It’s a one-step leavening agent.

🍰 Cream Stabiliser – Keeps whipped cream thick and fluffy for longer, so it doesn’t go runny. Handy for piping or hot days.

🍋 Citric Acid – A natural acid from citrus fruits that adds tartness, preserves food, and helps with setting in jams or cheese-making.

🥄 Gelatine Powder – Made from animal collagen, it sets jellies, mousses, and panna cotta. Turns liquids into firm, wobbly textures.

🥤 Bicarb Soda (Baking Soda) – A pure raising agent that needs an acid (like vinegar or lemon juice) to activate. Helps cookies spread and makes things light and fluffy.

Key Differences:
Leavening (makes things rise): Yeast, baking powder, bicarb soda.

Thickening/stabilising: Arrowroot, gelatine, cream stabiliser, egg replacer.

Acidity/flavour/set jams: Citric acid, cream of tartar, tartaric acid.

Vegan-friendly: Arrowroot, baking powder, egg replacer (unlike gelatine and eggs).
