DON'T BE A FOOL, KEEP YOUR DOG COOL!

It's going to be extremely hot across all of Victoria and most of Australia over the next few days. Please, please, please do not take your dogs for a walk in the heat of the day! Not only can this burn their feet, they can suffer from heatstroke very quickly. Don't risk it!

☀️Do not leave pets in cars, even if in the shade with windows cracked. If you see a pet unattended in a car please call 000 immediately.
☀️Walks should be very early or very late once the sun has gone down. If the ground is too hot for bare human feet, it is too hot for dogs to be walking.
☀️Ensure your pet has access to plenty of fresh water and shade. If possible, bring your pet inside in a cool room.
☀️Keep an eye on very young or very old pets, small pets like rabbits and birds are also more susceptible to heatstroke as well as bracycephalic breeds.
☀️Learn the signs of heat stress and heat stroke; constant panting, weakness / stumbling and reluctancy to get up, lethargy, shaking, dry nose and gums and excessive salivating.
