On a windy Wednesday morning, October 15th 2014, I stood outside the front entrance at 472 Lygon Street Brunswick East and opened the doors to the Brunswick East Wine Store for its very first day of trading. Today, Sunday June 22nd 2025 – 3.903 days later – I did what I did that day back in 2014, but for the final time.

There is precious little stock left with white wine, beer and a smattering of spirits remaining. The is empty.

Let me thank all our great regulars, locals, wine reps, winemakers, beer reps and brewers for the wonderful support these past 11 years. The WINE STORE | WINE BAR has been a massive part of mine and my kid’s life and closing after all this time has brought on all the emotions, as you imagine.

So, saying that, I just want to again say thank you and goodbye.

That’s right kiddo’s, ONE bottle of red wine is all that remains in the . This is our final weekend after 11 years so the timing could not be better. The Head ‘Red’ Barossa Valley 2020 Shiraz needs a good home kiddo’s!!!!!!!

Aside from that, today we are having a sausage sizzle to wrap it all up; $7 for a snag and beer – dealers’ choice on beer, and $9 for a snag and glass of Grande Bouche Chardonnay indeed.

Another beautiful wine gifted to me by an amazing customer over the past 11 years. Seriously kiddos, you are making me proper cry!!!!!

The Agricola Querciabella Toscana Chianti Classico 2012. Oh wow, this wine is spankingly good right now and has plenty of time (if you are lucky enough to have some stashed away) to look even more spankingly acer going forward.

On the nose, dried terracotta, bay leaf, tart red fruit. In the mouth there is amazing balance and purity of tannin and acid - it’s a bloody 13 year old wine!!! - more morello cherry and quite simply, this wine is proper s*xy as nuts.

Moorilla ‘Muse’ Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc St. Matthias Vineyard Tasmania 2014. Red currant, definite cedar tones, googi berry, juniper berry, acid - still there but yep, soft grippy tannins throughout, sorrel leaf at back, gorgeous harmony.
