The First Team to represent UAE at FSAE Michigan International Speedway 2014
Engines roaring, gears grinding and tires screeching. This is what the adrenaline of a team of petrolheads rushing towards actually building a Formula style race style car, called the GS RF-01. This car was used to compete in the FSAE 2014 Worldwide Championship. They call
themselves Gear Shifters and represent BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus and the United Arab Emirates. The team was founded in November 2011, by Anshul Singhal in his second year of Mechanical Engineering then,bright with a vision of creating a student culture for automotive research and facilities. He believes that to see young minds joining the team with a hope of learning and living their dream and evolve as a true leader in the society is an achievement in itself. The dream team started with 5 members at the time of foundation to 15 during its first international participation in SAE BAJA 2013 at Tennessee Tech University in USA to 25 during Formula SAE Michigan 2014, held between May 14th to 17th, 2014. Their first two international participations were the first ever to respresent UAE in its history in any SAE international event. They are now all set to compete in FSAE 2015 with their fourth racecar GS RF-02 , a 120 member strong team and determination to put UAE on the world map in the field of Student Racing Championships. They have positively influenced the lives of many students. They are like a family in Dubai away from home and they came together strong through thick and thin. The team has now shifted its aim from just building a racecar to building it the right way, with the integration of ERP solutions, corporate level Departmentalization, Finance Handling, Training Capsules and Data Mining. The team looks forward to professional collaborations with various R&D and educational institutions in UAE to help build a stronger platform for the young minds of UAE to aspire to do the same. This calls for help in terms of Sponsorship and Moral Support. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors who helped them meet their budget of AED 3,00,000 for the previous year.
