🍷 Pioneer's Wine Club Vriesenhof Tasting Experience 🍷

Join us on 9 April for an evening of exceptional wine, good company, and great conversation as we showcase the wines of Vriesenhof. Hosted at Little Pilgrims Boutique Hotel, this tasting experience will be followed by a 3-course meal, making it the perfect night out for wine lovers.

From Stellenbosch’s Paradyskloof Valley, Vriesenhof is known for its Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, with each wine reflecting its unique terroir and character.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jean Nel and Gwen Marais to the Iona winemaking and viticultural team, with effect from June 2026.

They will be joining us from Cederburg Wines where Jean has been head winemaker, including the Ghost Corner range, for the last 7 years. Gwen, largely responsible for the red wines, completed 4 vintages there. We appreciate David Nieuwoudt’s contribution to this team’s growth and the seamless transition to Iona.

Both come with impressive track records which include international vintages, as well as Jean having served as assistant winemaker at Klein Constantia for 4 years. Gwen’s experience as biodynamic viticulturist and winemaker at Haut Espoir will add welcome reinforcement to Rozy Gunn’s biodynamic/organic endeavours for Solace and One Man Band.

The new team will continue to focus on expressing the singular terroir of Iona with the continued support of Werner Muller, our exceptional winemaker of the last 15 years, who is moving on to a venture of his own.
