More than 440 participants took part in the day’s activities. The aim was to expose the children to a different variety of sports which are not normally accessible to everyone. The other BIG aim was just to have fun by encouraging mass participation.

We also had the honour of having the South African Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee (SASCOC), Mr Barry Hendricks, at the event.

Below is post from Barry’s page :

I truly appreciate participating in the Mossel Bay Sports Council’s sports festival this morning at Santos Beach. This is what taking sport to the people and being a sports movement is all about. The Western Cape and Eden sports confederations should be proud. National presidents will recognise their codes and clubs. Well done.

Thanks to Eden Surf Lifesaving and DCAS for an exciting fun filled Cape Champs event for Nippers. Jean Neethling and Desmond Speelman for your interest and presence. TheEden Lifesaving team, safety officers, coaches and managers for your commitment to bring change. I believe the parents enjoyed it as much as the nippers. This initiatitve is to teach young ones to swim and teaching them lifeguard skills with surely a positive impact on their lives. Feel free to ask around in town for a club: Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving, Southern Cross, Marlin, Hartenbos and Greatbrak.
