More Than Coffee. ☕🎶

Some places don't reveal everything the moment you walk in.

At first, it felt like a cosy café built around vinyl records.

The entrance looked like a giant record. Inside, walls were filled with album covers, turntables waited quietly, and every corner invited us to slow down.

Coffee naturally became part of the afternoon.

Then, almost by accident, I looked above the bar and found something unexpected.

A carefully curated collection of whiskies.

I later learned that, on selected evenings, the owner hosts whisky tasting sessions, sharing personal favourites with guests.

Sometimes, the best places aren't memorable because of one thing.

They're memorable because every small discovery becomes part of the story.

Some places don't reveal everything the moment you walk in.

At first, it felt like a cosy café built around vinyl records.

The entrance looked like a giant record. Inside, walls were filled with album covers, turntables waited quietly and every corner invited us to slow down.

Some places change with time. Others simply grow into a new chapter.

Years ago, I came here with friends for a Japanese sake night, pairing fresh seafood with bottles of sake around a simple table. Back then, the cooked food centre still carried its old look, but the warmth of the people made us return again and again.

Last night, I brought my family back.

The market has been beautifully renovated. The seafood stalls look brighter, the dining area feels more spacious, and everything is more comfortable. Yet one thing hasn't changed.

Pak Kee is still here.

We picked fresh seafood downstairs, carried it upstairs, and let the same familiar kitchen transform it into another unforgettable dinner. The cooking was as honest as I remembered, and the welcome felt just as warm.

Sometimes, the best memories aren't found in famous restaurants.

They're found in places where generations continue doing what they love, serving food with pride, while quietly preserving a little piece of Hong Kong.

I'm glad this place is still here.

A Taste of Old Hong Kong

Some places change with time. Others simply grow into a new chapter.

Years ago, I came here with friends for a Japanese sake night, pairing fresh seafood with bottles of sake around a simple table. Back then, the cooked food centre still carried its old look, but the warmth of the people made us return again and again.

Last night, I brought my family back.

The market has been beautifully renovated. The seafood stalls look brighter, the dining area feels more spacious and everything is more comfortable. Yet one thing hasn't changed.

🍷 Burgundy Dinner | Reunion Over Burgundy

Some dinners are about wine.
Some are about the people around the table.

This evening felt like both.

After nearly two years, a group of old friends finally gathered again at a friend’s South American restaurant in Causeway Bay. Though far from Burgundy, the setting somehow felt just right for the wines on the table.

Between old stories, laughter, and conversations about a possible Australia journey later this year, time seemed to slow down.

Burgundy is often subtle at first, revealing its layers only with patience. In many ways, old friendships feel much the same.

In the end, the most memorable part of the evening was not a particular bottle, but the company.

Because sometimes, the best pairing is wine and friendship.

A Slow Ride Home
From Cheung Chau to Victoria Harbour

Sometimes, the most memorable part of a journey is not the destination, but the way home.

Our day in Cheung Chau was wonderfully unhurried. We wandered through narrow streets, paused by the waterfront, stepped into a few little shops, and simply let time slow down. As evening approached, we gathered around the table, shared a simple dinner, opened a few bottles of wine, and enjoyed the conversations that only old friends can have.

Then we boarded the ferry.

What followed was a quiet performance by nature itself. The afternoon light softened into a golden sunset, the sky changed its colours almost minute by minute, and before we realised it, the familiar skyline of Victoria Harbour emerged, sparkling against the night.

In a city that is always moving, perhaps the greatest luxury is not travelling farther, but travelling slower.

Some journeys take us to new places.

Others simply remind us how beautiful the journey home can be.

Sometimes, the most memorable part of a journey is not the destination, but the way home.
