Payne County Imperial IPA (27/50 Good) by . Aroma is earthy, dark malt, spice, and cardamom. Appearance is chestnut colored with okay clarity. Thin, ivory head with low retention. Flavor is musty, piney, and spicy hop forward. A robust slightly spicy, generic sweetness comes next that takes control of the experience. A metallic, rust flavor that is noticeable in the aftermath. Mouthfeel is medium-light with a creamy texture. Moderate carbonation and a hint of heat. Finishes dichotomously with a wetness near the front of the mouth and a dryness by the molars.

Day 5, brewery #6 in Kingman, AZ.

Our server was excellent! I think we tasted about half the menu here. I ended up going with the Kilted Cricket (pictured left), their Scottish Ale, which was pleasently less sweet than a lot of others I've come across in this style.

The kids couldn't get enough about strapping me into the electric chair... time will tell if that is indicative of anything.

Day 4, stop 5 in Flagstaff. Enjoyed their cask conitioned Tower Station w/ dark cherries and Model A Porter. Ended up taking their Imperial Black IPA 4-pack home with me. Nice ladies behind the counter and a patron set his record of a four story tall card tower while their.

Last roadtrip through these parts we enjoyed Fratelli's pizza so that was a natural stop. Railhead Red by on the menu! @ Mother Road Beer

Day 3, stops 3 () and 4 ()

Pictured: Marble - Passionate Gose. Clean, light, minor citrus, and of course passion fruit.

The setup at Marble was pretty nice. Our family had this entire stage area with beautiful wood tables and couches to ourselves. Beer was great and the servers friendly. After some dinner we tempted fate at Boxing Bear. Unfortunately the girls broke down a bit and we couldn't get them to stop looking at the TVs showing some paramedic show with asteroid wounds, holes in bodies, and blood everywhere so we had to depart. @ Marble Brewery

Day 2, stop #2 . Ended up being their open mic night so folks, who were all clearly friends, were rotating through. Highlight was Gypsy Soul by Jim Morrisson with a flutest in the band. Oh, and a fiance played his soon to be a song two days before their wedding.

Two flights and a pint. Best of the night was the Buddy Hoppy IPA follewed by Red Dirt Red Ale. @ Two Docs Brewing Co.

First stop on the roadtrip, . Also a venue. Score! To top it off, the gentleman serving BBQ gave us some free sausage for the girls. Not a bad start to this excursion.

Backyahd (27/50 Good) by Foolproof Brewing Company. I am trying to imagine whose Backyahd this is, probably W***y Wonka. Who else would be slurping down this sweet nectar while grilling in the hot sun? This would work better in a picnic with a fruit salad, no sugar added, with mandarin oranges, tart cherries, snappy grapes, and strawberries topped with a lightly sweetened whipped cream.

Aroma is candy sweet, specifically dark candy corn and smarties. Fruit comes in next with a strong papaya and then there is a touch of dirtiness and a bit of sourness. Appearance is thin, cloudy, white head with low retention and a sea foam like residue spread across the top after the head dissipates. Cloudy with a golden colored body. Flavor is sweet and malt forward that is balanced out by a strong apricot hop flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a silky texture. Low carbonation. Finishes relatively neutral.

Milk Stout (33/50 Very Good) by . Tastes like to***co, leather, and regret. Sitting around a bonfire, tasting the many ci******es you've smoked like you've been chewing on them. The fire smoke billows around you giving a sense of doom; wrapping you in a blanket and pressing you deeper into your folding lawn chair. The creaking sound of your chair reach the tall surrounding trees and bounce right back at you.

Aroma is roasted cocoa beans, chocolate, vegetal/cabbage, toffee, and a funky sourness which could be tanning leather or rawhide. Appearance is near black with deep brown highlights. Medium, sudsy, brown head with moderately-low retention. Flavor is lactose, lightly sweetened cream, cold brew coffee, chocolate, roasted grains, bitter, and slightly sour with a hint of to***co. Aftertaste is slightly nutty, chocolate, licorice. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a silky texture. Finishes dry with a slight stickiness.

Wild Eye (37/50 Very Good) by Family Business Beer Company and PintHub. Free 🍺? 1st month is on me w/ PintHub app & code BEERISDEVINE !!

Wild Eye Rye IPA by Family Business Beer Company certainly wasn't wild. The hop intensity in the aroma was rather tame which was it's greatest weakness. It was a great, lite-version of the style with just a few shortcomings that kept it out of the exceptional range.

Aroma is clean and mild with notes of grains which are normally background notes. Missing hop forward characteristics that are true to style. Appearance is beautifully golden bodied with great clarity. Low, white, rocky head with low retention. Flavor is of fresh spicy and peppery hops, mildly roasted grains, and light rye. Aftertaste brings in grass, minerals/dirt, grains, and a touch of nut. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a smooth and silky texture. Medium-high, stingy carbonation. Finishes almost neutral though bends a little toward the dry side.

Jucifer IPA (36/50 Very Good) by Gnarly Barley Brewing. This beer packs a fruity punch to the point that it can be confused as a fruit beer. A little bit of blurring the lines here isn't bad and for those who want a flavor fiesta will be in luck.

Aroma is fruity of mango, tangerine, and pineapple with the addition of some grassy, earthy hops. Appearance is straw colored body and very hazy. Low, white, head with poor retention. Flavor is bright hop forward of lemon, mango, tangerine, and slight dirt. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a smooth texture. Moderate carbonation. Finishes dry.

Oktoberfest 2019 (40/50 Excellent) by Sierra Nevada. Becky had a very memorable thought to say with this. Then she drank the rest of the beer and forgot. Such is life. Maybe next October we will let you know.

Aroma is toasty, bready, malty, and a grassy, slightly spicy hop. Appearance is vibrant, amber-colored with a large, foamy, tan head and decent retention. Flavor is balanced, a smooth caramel malt with a modicum of spicy hop. Aftertaste of toasted grains and timothy hay. Yeah, it's a thing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth and creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Finishes with a tich of bitter dryness.

Brooklyn Oktoberfest (28/50 Good) by The Brooklyn Brewery. This takes us back just a little bit ago when we were drinking the Ethiopian beers. That's not a compliment. It's a little bit trashy.

Aroma is sweet, slightly syrupy malt, slight marshmallow, vegetal, slight buttered toast. Appearance is brownish-orange body with good clarity. Large, foamy, khaki head with good retention. Flavor is malty with just a little bit of various notes including caramel, copper/metallic, musty grains, and a slight acidity. The aftertaste has some vegetal notes and overall it tastes just a little bit off. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a smooth texture. Moderately carbonation. Slight bittering bite and warming.

Sleepy Hollow (27/50 Good) by 5 Stones Artisan Brewery. The aroma is spot on. When I poured this beer I felt like I was about to drink a liquefied pumpkin pie with a bit more spice than normal. That first taste, not quite there but good. As the beer makes its way down your left with a dry palate and regret. In that sense, you've got to keep drinking this thing to avoid the repercussions, just like avoiding detox.

Aroma is vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie, light smoke. Appearance is murky brown with a hazy, opaque body. Medium-low, off-white head with low retention. Flavor is sweet, creamy, pumpkin pie, apricot, wheat. Aftertaste is harsh, medicinal, soapy, and charred wood. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth texture. Moderately-high carbonation with tiny, sharp bubbles. Finishes very dry and warm.

Long Stride (24/50 Good) by Odell Brewing Co. It reminds Becky of cleaning out a TV cabinet. Pulling out the old VHS tapes to get all of the dust bunnies. You're left with a shiny, slick wood that you cover back up with those same VHS tapes that won't be touched until you revist the area in a year. It has a lot of flavor for a session beer and you'd probably get tired after chugging back a couple of these.

Aroma is bright citrus, ruby red grapefruit, lemon, and furniture polish. Appearance is large, soft, fluffy, white, possibly meringue head with great retention. Flavor is citrus, lemon, ruby red grapefruit, pine, and a slight meatiness. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a soft texture. Moderate carbonation. Finishes slightly dry.

Cardinal Pale Ale (25/50 Good) by Nebraska Brewing Company. We must have gotten a bad batch here. This was cloudy and not crystal clear as the brewer described. Bitterness was not a predominant characteristic either. This would have landed in an extra light dubbel category with me. Is that right? No, it can't be. This review needs to be redone with a proper sample. Nebraska Brewing, hit me up! ;)

Aroma is sweet, fruit forward of dark, dried fruits and oranges. Appearance is gold bodied and cloudy. Low, white head with moderate retention. Flavor is date, prune, and deep, dark, dried fruits. A mixture of black, predominately, and mint tea. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a light and smooth texture. Moderately-high carbonation. Dry finish.
