In the late 1970s, François Lumpp and his brother inherited their family vineyard in the Côte Chalonnaise. In 1991, François and his wife, Isabelle, founded their label, focusing on premier cru sites in Givry, the vineyard spans 9.5 hectares. Currently, the estate is managed by François’ children, Pierre and Anne-Cécile Lumpp.

Committed to sustainable viticulture, François Lumpp employs organic farming practices and hand-harvests the grapes to ensure the highest quality. Each wine, aged in a mix of new and old oak barrels, showcases vibrant berry flavors and exquisite minerality.

From the elegant Givry 1er Cru to the delightful Givry Blanc, each bottle reflects a story of tradition and innovation.

Since its founding in 1990 by Michele and Patrice Rion, the domaine has built a reputation for combining tradition with innovation. Patrice's early acclaim in the 1980s helped put his family’s wines on the global map, and by 2000, he had established his own winery and vision. His son Maxime joined in 2005, bringing international experience and a fresh scientific edge. Together, they farm 9 hectares in the Côte de Nuits—including Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Chambolle-Musigny—with a strong commitment to certified organic methods and environmental sustainability.

Manual harvests, gravity-fed vinification, and minimal sulfite use reflect their meticulous approach. What an exciting week! We were delighted to host Mr. Pablo Alvarez, the CEO of Tempos Vega Sicilia, who joined us for wonderful dinners and a vertical tasting with a focus on Alión. It was an unforgettable experience to hear the captivating stories behind each bottle from this legendary winery. We hope everyone who attended felt the same passion!

Alión, located just 15 km from León near Peñafiel, began at Vega Sicilia to establish its unique identity. Made from the Tinto Fino variety, Alión captures the region’s rich mosaic, with vineyards spanning from Soria in the east to the Vega Sicilia estate in Valbuena de Duero in the west. It adopted oak fermentation and expanded its facilities in 1993, showcasing the diverse terroir and climate of Ribera del Duero.

Tuscany Wine Dinner at Cova Lee Garden

From the rolling hills of Italy to the heart of Hong Kong! Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a remarkable wine dinner at Cova Lee Garden .

Over two evenings, more than 140 esteemed guests savored exquisite pairings from iconic Tuscan winemakers including Ca’Marcanda, Altesino , and Siro Pacenti . A truly unforgettable experience celebrating the finest flavors and traditions of Italy.

The Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne 2015 (James Suckling 100 points!) was the perfect companion to the main course selections of Char-Grilled Australian Wagyu Rib Eye, as well as Smoked Crispy Duck Breast. This exquisite wine elevated the dining experience, harmonizing beautifully with the rich flavors and textures of these culinary delights.

Discover Domaine Michel Niellon – Chassagne Montrachet Treasures

Located in the heart of Côte de Beaune, Domaine Michel Niellon spans 8 hectares across the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, with vineyards rising between 200 and 400 meters in elevation. Remarkably, many plots still nurture vines originally planted by Marcel Niellon in 1926—a living testament to the domaine’s enduring heritage.

🕰️ "Generations succeed, but passion remains constant at Domaine Michel Niellon."
Michel Niellon began working alongside his father in the 1950s and pioneered the estate’s bottling practices in the 1960s, at a time when it was far from commonplace. The family’s winemaking tradition deepened in 1991 when Michel Coutoux, his son-in-law from a winegrowing lineage in the Loire Valley, joined the domaine. After Michel’s passing in 2021, Coutoux, together with his children Matthieu and Lucie, embraced the mission of blending innovation with tradition.

🌱 Craftsmanship in Every Barrel
Their thoughtful winemaking process includes the selective use of new oak—roughly 25% of barrels are new, with the overall proportion ranging between 20% and 30% depending on the cuvée, balancing freshness with depth.

Domaine Michel Niellon is celebrated for wines that exude elegance, layered complexity, and lasting finish. A historic name in Chablis, Domaine Billaud-Simon continues to impress with wines of exceptional purity, precision, and depth. At its charming château in the heart of the appellation, gentle evolution is shaping a new era.

Régisseur Olivier Bailly brings a thoughtful approach to winemaking — reducing oak influence, especially in the Grands Crus, and introducing stainless steel barrels alongside traditional oak. This balance allows for small-volume vinification with the texture of lees contact, but without oak-driven aromas or oxidative character.
All vineyards are planted within a tight 2km radius on both banks of the Serein River. With vines averaging 50 years of age, each parcel is carefully tended with patience and precision—hallmarks of Billaud-Simon’s timeless style.

The domaine proudly cultivates:
- 4 Grands Crus: Les Clos, Vaudésir, Les Preuses, Les Blanchots
- 4 Premiers Crus: Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Mont de Milieu, Les Vaillons
- Village Cuvée: Chablis Tête d’Or — crafted from the domaine’s top parcels

Bonneau du Martray 2016

A delightful catch-up with Mr. Armand de Maigret, the steward of both Bonneau du Martray and Screaming Eagle vineyards, paired with a tasting of two stunning 2016 vintages! Armand shared the story behind Corton and Charlemagne, highlighting the diverse terroirs surrounding the domaine.

How about the wines? 2016 was no easy year — black frost swept through the vineyards, resulting in around 40% loss in white grapes and 50% in red. Yet, the wines are nothing short of remarkable. The white, Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, is pure, vibrant and full of good energy. The red, Corton Grand Cru? As our team said, it “tastes like luxury”, elegant, intense, complex, and fine-bone.
