🤩 Now lockdown is easing in both the UK and France, it’s time to start thinking about the those long lost long weekends…remember them?

🚄 As it’s Bordeaux wine Month we thought we’d point out that this gorgeous city, surrounded by thousands of hectares of beautiful vineyards, is about 5 hours away by train from St Pancreas international on the Eurostar and TGV. Cheeky bit of “working from home” with the onboard wi-fi and you’re there in time for dinner!

🍷 Mike and Toby, the founders of Feel Good Grapes, met up for the first time in Bordeaux, and have worked with the wines, châteaux, and tour operators for many years now. It’s a root day! 🥕🌖

➡️ For anyone following the biodynamic calendar, today is a root day in the UK.

➡️ What does that mean? Root days are associated with earth signs such as Capricorn, Ta**us and Virgo. This is a great day to get out there and plant, sow, or fertilise those root veg in your back garden. Is it too early to get the carrots in?

➡️ Biodynamic wine followers will tell you that these aren’t the best days for tasting wines, as the wines will taste more subtle and earthy, so for anyone looking to enjoy a great glass of wine this evening, it might be a G&T kind of evening…

Anyone for 200 Year Old Pais?

Ever tried Pais? A few of you…

How about 200 year old Pais? Not many…

Well I’m not surprised. Pais was, for many years, the forgotten child of the Chilean wine industry, as export minded companies planted the likes of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon at the expense of regional and national identity. Luckily for us, Pais is a hardy vine variety, and survived by growing wild in unpopular and unfashionable wine districts.

Roberto Henriquez was schooled in winemaking with stints in Chile, South Africa, and Canada, but returned to his native Bio Bio, arguably Chile’s most unspoilt winemaking region, to explore his passion for natural wines. The cooler climate and range of altitudes give great fruit, and he’s taken over a plot of 7 hectares, including 200 year old Pais vines from the coastal mountain range of Nahuelbuta.

The result is utterly superb, fruit driven natural wines, with low alcohol, no added sulphites, and minimal intervention in the winery.

Tree Planting Update! 🌳🍷
