Rudy T was drafted second in the 1970 NBA draft to play for the Rockets. He played for the Rockets until 1981. Shortly after he became a member of the coaching staff. In 1992 he was picked to be the head coach of the Rockets. Rudy lead the Rockets to 2 championships in 1994 and 1995. He coached in Houston until 2003 when he went to the Lakers to replace Phil Jackson as head coach.

Enron Field was the new Ballpark for the Houston Astros after the team moved from the Astrodome. Enron Field opened in 2000. In 2001, after the “Enron Scandal”, the Houston energy and financial trading company went bankrupt. The Astros had to remove all signage from the stadium and rebranded the ball park with the new name, Minute Made Park. The park currently seats 42,168. The previous home to the Astros (The Astrodome )seated 54,370. .

Elvin Bethea played his entire 16 season career with the Houston Oilers. Drafted in 1968 by Houston, he went on to set 3 team records over his career. Most seasons played by a player (16), most regular season games played (210), and most consecutive games played (135). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003. It is said he still currently lives in the Houston area (Missouri City).

Don Wilson pitched the first ever no-hitter in a domed stadium (Astrodome 1967). Don Wilson Pitched for the Astros for his entire, yet short career. He was drafted out of community college in 1966 to the Astros. His sudden death at the age of 29 ended his career short. His number 40 is retired by the Houston Astros.

Rest In Peace, Bob Watson. Bob played for the Astros from 1966 - 1979. He was selected as an All-Star twice while with the Astros. He later came back to Houston in 1993 as the GM, making him the second African American GM in MLB history. He passed away yesterday, May 14, 2020, in Houston.

This is 1 of 20 of the 7-11 Slurpee Baseball trading cups from 1982. Art How played for the Astros from 1976 to 1982. He returned to Houston as the Astros’ Manager from 1989 - 1993. After leaving Houston, he became the Manger for the Oakland A’s. He is portrayed by actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in the film “Moneyball”.

Dan Pastorini was Quarterback for the Houston Oilers from 1971 - 1979. He played with broken ribs and punctured lungs. His last game with the Oilers was the 1979 AFC championship game. The Oilers lost 27 -13. Dan still is around Houston and owns a spice company here also!
