Last week, we had the honor of hosting an event celebrating 90 Years of Spirited Service in NC!

Organized in partnership with the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, the event highlighted the important role our system plays in offering responsible liquor sales and providing impactful community investments throughout our great state.

We’re so excited for what’s ahead as we continue to serve our customers and reinvest in state & local governments, alcohol law enforcement, and initiatives reducing the impact of alcohol and substance misuse throughout New Hanover County.

Since we know everyone loves a good novelty item (we're looking at you, Dorito's), we've brought in some Blueberry Boba Pops! 🫐

Now if you've found yourself on a Wednesday afternoon, thinking "Well, what the heck are Boba Pops?" we've got you covered.

According to Google, Boba Pops are "flavored, liqueur-filled, popping pearls" that can be added to sparkling water, cocktails, or used as a topping for various drinks and deserts.

Please, comments section, let's be nice about this one. Should we get the Raspberry flavor too?

We are pleased to announce the 2026 recipients of our Community Health & Wellness grant program! 🎉

Since this program's inception in 2021, we've awarded over $3M to nonprofits that are promoting health, safety, and sobriety throughout our county.

We are so incredibly grateful for the fantastic work taking place in our community, and honored to contribute to the success of the organizations carrying out this important work each and every day.

Today marks 90 years since North Carolina's first ABC store opened its doors in Wilson County!

Fun fact: While the federal repeal of prohibition was ratified in 1933, NC's Alcoholic Beverages Control Act didn't pass until 1937.

Yesterday morning, NC Governor's Highway Safety Program launched the 2025 Operation Firecracker Booze it & Lose it campaign.

During this time, state & local law enforcement will be conducting enhanced statewide patrols in an effort to curb drinking and driving.

Now and always, everyone has a responsibility to keep their community safe. Plan ahead to ensure you're not behind the wheel after you've been drinking.

For the first time in history, we'll have stores open on the 4th of July!

The Carolina Beach, Monkey Junction & Wrightsville Beach ABC Stores will be open from 9am-4pm this Friday, July 4th. All other New Hanover County ABC stores will be closed.

Many thanks to our scholarship recipients for coming out to the June 2025 ABC Board meeting!

This year, we awarded $1,500 scholarships to seventeen high school graduates for their outstanding work not only researching the dangers of underage drinking, but going above and beyond to educate their peers on the important topic.

In their essays, they covered a range of themes including alcohol’s impact on brain development, decision-making, and social dynamics, as well as how media and advertising can influence underage drinking.

We’re proud to support such driven and thoughtful students, and we wish them the best of luck in college and beyond!
