How Did Alcohol Ice Cream Get it’s Start?
As a young man growing up in Southeastern Kentucky, more specifically Evarts, I learned a lot from my grandmother who was from the deep south, which is where I finally understood the true meaning of the word “southern cooking.” She taught me to use only the finest ingredients while cooking, which is why Joe Brett’s Ice Cream contains the best natural ingredients.
I was always very partial to desserts until I tried my grandmothers. One of her favorites was a boiled custard laced with fine Bourbon, although she put Bourbon in just about everything.
Seeing how much this custard was liked, I started to experiment with various ways to freeze it. After being told repeatedly that it was impossible to freeze alcohol, I let my stubbornness take over. Eventually I found a way to freeze alcohol and turn the custard into a very rich, creamy and smooth ice cream.
Now, after years of trial and error, I am finally able to share this enjoyable and delicious ice cream with people all around the country.
