CANCELATION POLICY

Effective as the August 30th dig - I hate to have to enforce this, but unfortunately people are canceling so late that I cannot get others a chance to come - and there is always a waitlist of those wanting to get their day of digging.

So, to try to avoid and dissuade canceled spots, I have two options

1) Charge a ticket price prior to coming (I’d rather not do this, as it adds added complications, fees, etc)

2) Create a policy where if you cancel within a certain amount of days of the dig, you forfeit your ability to come again that calendar year, or if it’s the last dig if the year, your ability to come the next year.

I’m going with 2 for now, but may have to go to 1 in the future. Please do everything you can not to cancel, as even if you cannot come for legitimate reasons, others never had the chance because you were holding their potential spot up until sometimes the last minute.

We have one more open date for CVM for the year, and it is August 30th - this will be your LAST chance until spring of 2026 to visit!!

We are going to be able to open up about 16 spots for our August 9th dig date, starting right now! Private message the secret word “cave” along with how many spots you would like (per adult, kids under 16 don’t count toward the total.)

You’ll get an auto response, and following that, i’ll contact you if you are in!

Bear in mind, there is only one more dig, August 30th, and depending on the club who is coming, you might not have any more opportunities after the 9th to come this year!! So get in on this one!!

Predicted 88 degrees on Saturday for our dig, be sure to bring plenty of water! It also shows PM storms, but we are open rain or shine! Hopefully PM means evening and we’ll be done by then 🙂

I want to encourage everyone to join one of the rock clubs in the area! They do field trips, they have meetings with great shared information and community, and this year at CVM, I am offering them first choice at dates we will be open.

Two for the St Louis/Missouri area that are booked for this year are the St. Louis Mineral & Gem Society and the Mineral Area Gem and Mineral Society.

Another group not booked for CVM but who does tons of digs in MO mines is James Johnson ‘s group MO Rock Collecting & Digs. He has access to some extremely lucrative and premium locations that no one else has access to.

I strongly recommend joining either or both organizations, especially if you want fairly guaranteed access to the mine this year. Further, as they do other trips to other mines and digging spots, you’ll have exclusive access to those places as well, some that are not available to anyone else.
