Gaige was hit and crumpled, critically wounded, while the three other teens scattered. First responders hauled him to a nearby hospital as fast as they could, but the damage was done. He died of his injuries despite every medical effort, leaving his family shattered beyond words. By the next day, detectives had cuffed the 16-year-old, slapping him with felony murder and a violation of that supervised release.
