Honored to bring you all Nevada's FIRST single barrel!

Barrel #17-494 is coming in at 129.41 proof and was barreled on 6/8/17. 
This whiskey is absolutely lovely on the nose. I spent 5-10 mins just nosing it. Tons of chocolates, coffee, butterscotch. 

The palate - oh man. Homemade toffee, rum raisin, Whoppers milk chocolate, dark herbs, birch - just an amazing marriage of flavor. For 129 proof this was drinking like a 110! The higher proof played its part in the finish - a delightful and savory one. 

This was a very tough barrel to pick because every single offering was excellent but also so different from each other. I personally went to this fully expecting to pick a Pinot Noir finished cask strength variety as it's my favorite out of the core. There was just something about barrel 17-494 which was so inviting and unforgettable. 

This is truly a special pick. As we build our single barrel program, it is very important it's known that we are not just going to pick ANY barrel. The selection team is filled with talent, knowledge and diversified palates who enjoy ALL whisk(e)y, spirits, wine & beer. I purposely went with something completely different and out of the ordinary to showcase this. 

Huge thanks to Parker Stremmel and the for hosting us. Many, many thanks to my amazing team of tasters, Jeff & Matt from Westward, the ever supportive team at Southern Wine & Spirits, Will Shepherd of Estella for the amazing dinner and Ocean + Rock for the photos.

We’re very happy to announce that our next barrel pick will be out of Portland, Oregon!

If we’ve ever talked whiskey one on one, this is one of the brands we really enjoy; from the whiskey itself to the people behind the brand. It’s an honor to have a barrel allocated.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, Westward is a leading brand in American Single Malt. This means it’s made from 100% malted barley.

These whiskies start as an artisanal single malt ale which is then distilled, matured and barreled into small batches. Every drop comes from their distillery in Portland, Oregon.

You can anticipate our pick to come in at barrel proof, between 120-132 proof. We are unsure of whether it’ll be finished in a wine cask or not, but will confirm before launching the official pre-sale. Expect this to be in store Summer 2022 with a LOW yield, so do NOT sleep on this!
