She Fights Foundation

She Fights Foundation This group was created as a space where women who fight could support one another in their quest to be their strongest, most badass selves.

She Fights was created as a place for women fighters to find a community. The foundation has two branches: the Youth Boxing Program, which offers free boxing classes to young girls from low income backgrounds, and Feminist Fight Club, which allows fighters the opportunity to interact, spar, and mentor one another. About Youth Boxing Program:
We offer free boxing classes to girls aged 14-19 with th

e goal of fostering empowerment through boxing, instilling strength, tenacity, and self-patience. We are located in NYC. About Feminist Fight Club:
Inspired by Jessica Bennett's book Feminist Fight Club, and the countless female fighters who put in that hard work and receive neither fame nor fortune, we founded this group as a place women who fight could support one another in their quest to be their strongest, most badass selves. Jessica's hilarious, inspiring, tongue-in-cheek manifesto made us wonder how we could apply her rules for achieving equality in the workplace to achieving equality in the ring. With this Feminist Fight Club we give women the space to encourage one another, to act as mentors to other women in combat sports, and support women fighters seeking to gain recognition on the professional stage.

Boxing gave me the ability to finally display on the outside the way I felt about myself on the inside: strong, powerful, relentless, unstoppable. I wanted to be able to use what I’d learned in boxing to make sure other women and girls never thought of themselves as less than, or broken, or incap....

Our founder, Cristina Gonzalez, on why she started She Fights, and what boxing has meant to her.
"I hope our boxing program allows our girls to see themselves as forces of nature, unstoppable in their resolve to become their strongest selves. I hope it changes the way the world sees women, and starts noticing the power we possess in our ability to endure and overcome. Ultimately, I want our girls to look at themselves in the mirror and ask, "What can't I do?" I hope they set out to find the answer, and discover that there is little they can’t achieve."

Badass female fighters across all sports, media and culture in our community discuss what it means to fight, in life and sport.
