Thanks so much for joining us at our last tasting, as we explored a variety of volcanic soils from Fruška Gora mountain in Serbia, to Tenerife and the bookends of Italy - Alto Adige and Sicily.
We found Burgundian depth in the Canary Islands, stimulation in Martin Gojer’s heady wines, subtle richness at the heart of Maurer Oszkar’s ‘Crazy’ and elegance in Mount Etna. Also, any excuse to showcase something from Jean-Phillipe Padié, we’ll more than happily take.

We are very excited to announce our first event of the Summer! Please join us Thursday 6/12 for the opening reception of “A Fleeting Moment” a solo exhibition of film photography and writings by James Gutierrez. The exhibition is accompanied by the release of James’s self published books About a Girl and Me Mante which both feature his photography work and will be on view through July 24th. Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the tasting! We really enjoyed our jaunt around eastern France, appreciating wines from the unofficial eleventh cru of Lantingie to the steep slopes of Cevins in the Savoie, comparing Poulsard from Poligny to Bugey-Cerdon. We contrasted different varietal expressions of Sopron in western Hungary from Franz Weninger, a furmint and Blaufränkish from the historic Steiner site on the east side of Lake Neusiedl. Lastly, we appreciate everyone indulging our agave inclinations, as we finished up with a wonderful 18-year-old cupreata from Erika Meneses.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out this past Thursday! The first half was an exploration of different expressions of Chardonnay and perhaps a bit of a challenge to its skeptics. The latter half showcased a broad range of reds, from Jura and the Canary Islands to Nevada County, CA. We finished up with a sake on the sweeter side, but still had to open some Bonnet-Cotton Régnié because what’s a BackRoom without a bonus bottle or two?
