🍷🔥 Fall Events!

Later this month, we head to the to northeastern Italy for a w**e class on the Veneto’s benchmark appellations of Soave, Bardolino and Valpolicella. In October, I am please to welcome Paola Grasso of Ca del Baio, one of Barbaresco’s great families. We will tell the story of this important appellation through the glass of her families portfolio of w**es, all paired to a hearty 3 course menu by Chef Alessandro.

Awesome and expansive tasting of the Barbera varietal this past Tuesday. So underrated! From tart and spicy Asti to brooding and layered Alba, it is surprising the range Barbera is capable of. 🙌🏻

WOTN:
⭐️ Giacomo Conterno Francia 2016 - a beast of a w**e, still developing
⭐️ Braida 2021 Bricco dell’Uccellone - like a sports car, flashy with lots of muscle

Up next?
9/22 Veneto Classico: a dive into the heart of Venetian w**e: Soave, Bardolino and Valpolicella!

Veneto is among Italy’s iconic regions. From its roots in the ancient world to the rise of the Venetian Republic, their culture and products have reached nearly every corner of the world. Today, its w**e reputation has been reinvigorated by a new generation of producers valuing substance over style, a key distinction in this corner of Italy.

We will explore geography, grapes and styles, and chart its tumultuous history, all while sipping 6 w**es from exceptional small producers. Discover authentic Veneto through the glass!

August w**e club heads to the Veneto🔥

We visit the areas of Soave and Valpolicella through the glass of three producers: Inama, Secondo Marco and Roccolo Grassi.

Passaporto booklet is a snapshot of Venetian culture, history and geography, with close attention paid to the rise, fall and rise again of these prestigious w**emaking areas.

Why this club?
Italian w**e is about discovering culture. Learn a little about the geography, climate, cuisine and dedicated artisans like Marco Speri, the Grassi’s and Inama’s… and the experience in the glass is so much more revealing, and rewarding.

Bottivino W**e Club details can be found in my BIO or feel free to DM me directly🔥

Another great night with fellow Nebbiolo fanatics. This time at Barberio in the Mission. All agreed the Oddero 2004 Mondoca was singing beautifully, showing the richness and depth of Monforte d’Alba fruit. The 2018’s were restrained and fragrant, with Roagna taking the lead. The 1964’s were a little tired and slightly flawed, yet still enchanting to experience in the glass. Great to see NYC legend Ken Vastola!

New class on the books for September 🍷🙌🏻🗺️ Read on…

Barbera is one of northern Italy’s iconic grapes. From its home in Piemonte, Barbera has the most vineyards of any other grape in the area, even Nebbiolo. Yet, it has developed a reputation as a workhorse “everyday” varietal for the lunch table, often playing second fiddle to Barolo and Barbaresco. Those in the know, know different.

Presenting a unique retrospective tasting experience of this important varietal, told through the glass of 8 of its greatest practitioners. If you have ever loved Barbera, this is your chance to taste some of the very best being made today. We will explore history, characteristics in the vineyard and w**ery, benchmark appellations and tell stories of producers who have elevated this grape to noble status.
