Skip the Candy Corn, Sip Something Better 🍷

Two very different pours this weekend, one bold and jammy from Sonoma, one bright and briny from the Basque coast. Stop by and taste both.

🍇 Foppiano 1896 Red Blend 2023 (Sonoma County, California): A juicy blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, with spiced blackberry, cherry, and cranberry, a little cinnamon and licorice, and a bright, mouthwatering finish. It's plush and crowd-pleasing, made for ribs, burgers, and game-day snacks. The "1896" is the year Giovanni Foppiano founded the w**ery, and the blend changes from vintage to vintage.

🌊 Baskoli 2023 (Basque Country, Spain): Made from 100% Hondarrabi Zuri, a native Basque grape you won't find on many shelves. Crisp and zesty, with citrus peel, baked peach, and a salty, stony edge that makes you want another sip. In Basque Country, txakoli (pronounced chock-oh-lee) is traditionally poured from high above the glass, which wakes up the w**e and brings out its natural sparkle.

Great w**e doesn't have to be expensive or intimidating, and you can find something new this weekend without having to know a thing about it. Stop by to taste, ask questions, or just tell us what you like. Our w**e-educated team is here to help you find a bottle you'll love.

🍷 Stay curious with us this October

This month's W**e Society picks head to Spain, just not the Spain you might expect. Three organic w**es from three tiny producers, and a few grapes you may not have met yet:

🥂 Parajes del Valle Macabeo Ecológico 2023 (Manchuela)�Yellow apple, pear and lime, crisp and a little floral. Macabeo usually plays backup in Cava. Here, it's the headliner.

🍇 Laderas de Sedella Ánfora 2018 (Sierras de Málaga)�Savory berries, violet and warm spice, with a mineral edge. The vines grow on steep slate slopes plowed by horse, and the w**e rests in clay amphorae.

🍒 Forlong Le Petit 2022 (Cádiz)�Juicy cherry, black pepper and cocoa, with a salty finish. It's a red from Sherry country, built around a rare local grape called Tintilla de Rota.

All three are certified organic, made with native yeasts and minimal sulfur, and not a usual suspect in the bunch.

This Weekend at the Sample Bar 🍷

Missed our sold-out Kermit Lynch Rhône W**e Dinner at the Historian? You're in luck. Three of the w**es from that night are open for tasting this weekend, and we have a few bottles left if you want to take one home.

Domaine Gramenon Poignée de Raisins 2023 (Côtes du Rhône, France): Juicy Grenache with ripe cherry, blackberry, violet, and a little spice. It's lively, silky, and easy to love. Poignée de raisins means "a fistful of grapes," and Gramenon is a biodynamic pioneer whose bistro-style red has inspired growers all over France.

Domaine Le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Doucinello 2023 (Southern Rhône, France): A Grenache-led blend with Syrah, with garrigue (wild Provençal herbs), just-ripe black cherry, and a touch of pepper. It's medium-bodied and refreshing, with smooth tannins. The domaine's name means "the blood of the stones," a nod to the rocky soil of Vacqueyras, and this cuvée is named for the w**emaker's daughter.

Brunier Le Pigeoulet Vaucluse Rouge 2023 (Southern Rhône, France): Easy, soulful, and made for sharing, with dark fruit and herbal notes in a Grenache-driven red. It comes from the Brunier family of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most prestigious estates, so you're tasting a famous family's everyday bottle.

The Rhône W**e Dinner at The Historian on October 20 was a SOLD-OUT party, and wow, what a night! Chef Michael sent out six courses, each one paired with a Kermit Lynch w**e that made us say "oh, THAT'S how it's done." 🙌
Chef de Cuisine Alan Sims and Chef de Sous Kristen Orzech got a standing-ovation-level round of applause from our very happy (and very well-fed) guests. 👏 Those smiles? Not an accident.

Big cheers to Adam Fortuna of Veritas Distributors for guiding us through the pours and spilling all the fascinating Kermit Lynch stories. 🥂

This Week at the Sample Bar 🍷

Straight from our sold-out Old World vs. New World tasting at The Hummingbird Lounge — the two most-requested pours are back, and this time there's no ticket required.

🌊 Cellar Door Pescador Rosé NV (Catalonia, Spain) — A pale, playful rosé from Spain's Costa Brava with a natural touch of spritz from a light second fermentation. Fresh red fruit, a hint of citrus, and low alcohol make this one dangerously easy to sip all afternoon. "Pescador" means "fisherman" — a fitting name for a w**e built for lazy, seaside-style sipping.

🍇 Les Volets Malbec 2024 (Languedoc, France) — Proof that Malbec's roots are actually French, not Argentine. Grown high in the Pyrenees foothills, this one's cooler and more floral than the Malbec you're used to — crushed blueberries, cassis, and a whisper of violet, with a bright, juicy finish instead of heavy fruit. Malbec was the pride of Cahors, France for centuries (where it was called "Cot") until a brutal 1956 frost wiped out much of the region's vines — opening the door for Argentina to make the grape its own.
