Fancy a wh***ey night? Join us on Thursday, 5th November at 7:30pm at Beantown Café, Grange, for an evening dedicated to W.D. O’Connell Irish Wh***ey!

We’ll be tasting a fantastic selection of wh***eys, exploring different styles, cask influences and flavours, with a little surprise along the way…

NEW IN 🐺🍪

Wicklow Wolf Scoff Limits Stout is here, and it’s already available to order online.

This limited-release Irish craft stout is brewed with caramelised biscuit and cinnamon. At 5% ABV it’s rich, smooth and moreish, with sweet biscuit, warming spice and a gentle roasted bitterness. Endangered Species no. 72 from Wicklow Wolf.

Some things are just too good to share. 😉

A huge thank you to Leslie Williams Leslie Williams for featuring the G.D. Vajra Moscato d’Asti in the Irish Examiner: we’re delighted to see it get the attention it deserves🙏

We’re genuinely proud to bring G.D. Vajra to Matson’s. Their w**es are elegant, precise and deeply rooted in the Langhe, one of the most unique w**e regions in the world.
W**es from this corner of Piedmont are often expensive, but Vajra deliberately keeps theirs accessible, outstanding w**es at fair prices, so more people can taste what this land has to offer. That’s why we love them.

Our G.D. Vajra selection:

🍾 Moscato d’Asti – gently sparkling and low in alcohol, with ripe peach, orange blossom and a touch of sage. Sweet, fresh and beautifully balanced.

🍷 Barbera d’Alba – intensely floral, with violets and rose over bright red cherry and plum. Juicy, lively and wonderfully food-friendly.

🍷 Langhe Nebbiolo – deeper and more brooding, with earthy, forest-floor notes, hints of moss, a balsamic edge and a savoury, almost iron-like character. Complex well beyond its price.

🍷 Barolo Albe – a blend of several Barolo vineyards, giving a harmonious, layered expression of the appellation: rose petals, red fruit, spice and fine-grained tannins.

🍷 Barolo Bricco delle Viole – Vajra’s flagship single-vineyard Barolo, from one of the highest sites in the Barolo commune. Ethereal, perfumed and incredibly refined – a w**e of real depth and finesse.

Staropramen, Molson Canadian and Heverlee Pilsner are all on offer this month🍂🍺

We’ve worked with the same suppliers for years, and it shows when we can pass a good price on to you.

Staropramen has the biggest saving of the three!
Heverlee comes with a free pint glass, so there’s a good l***r and something to pour it in. Hard to argue with that.

Midleton Very Rare Irish Chestnut Edition has arrived at Matson’s.

It’s the first Irish wh***ey finished in Irish sweet chestnut casks, with chestnut from the Cappoquin Estate on the banks of the Blackwater. Honey, red apple and chocolate, with a long, spiced finish.

We have a few bottles waiting for you at €440 per 70cl.

Vale de Cabanas 2024 is the red you open on a Tuesday night.

Aragonez, Trincadeira and Cabernet Sauvignon from Quinta da Ribeirinha in the Tejo.

👃Ripe cherry and blackberry on the nose, with a balsamic lift and a touch of orange peel that keep the fruit beautifully balanced.

In the glass it is soft and velvety.
13% alcohol, ready to drink now.

It needs no food at all: if you are cooking, a quick steak with a little spice suits it well, or any simple, quick dish.

Keep it away from anything very rich or oily, as its acidity is gentle.

We bring it in directly from Quinta da Ribeirinha, so it is €11 a bottle.
Great value for a w**e this easy to enjoy.
