Paris just transformed one of its busiest squares into an urban forest!

Over 2,500 square meters of concrete in front of City Hall were ripped up, and replaced with 4 groves, 150 trees, and thousands of plants.

Some trees are already over 10 meters tall.

They’ll help cool the area during heatwaves, clean the air, and create space for birds, insects, and shade-loving plants, and people too!

This is the third forest Paris has planted right in the city, and a fourth is already planned.

By 2030, Paris plans to plant over 170,000 trees and cover half the city with water-permeable surfaces, from green roofs to mini-gardens and tree-lined streets.

Would you like to see your city turn concrete into forest too?

Tap like if you would, and drop a tree emoji in the comments if you’re into this!

This is a game changing solution to those tiny plastic fish that come with your takeaway!

Angus and Jeffrey from Heliograf are the Aussie duo behind Holy Carp! the world’s first plastic free, home compostable soy sauce fish.

Made from 100% renewable sugarcane pulp, you simply fill it up at the restaurant, and it stays leak-proof for 48 hours.

It then breaks down in your compost in just a few weeks. No microplastics or waste left behind.

And this is a big deal, as it’s estimated around 10 billion soy fish have been produced on our planet to date.

While they’re technically recyclable, their tiny size means they can’t be processed by machines properly,so they end up clogging recycling systems and ironically, polluting the ocean.

South Australia became the first place in the world to ban soy fish in September 2025, and with sustainable replacements like Holy Carp!, more countries are set to follow!

Would you want to see these at your local takeaway spot?

When you view Earth from above, you’ve probably noticed one thing that stands out: the massive amounts of farmland.

Around 50% of the planet’s habitable land is now used for agriculture, usually at the expense of our natural world.

But what if we could make farmland work with nature instead of against it?

Well, the largest study of its kind in Britain just mapped 30% of the UK’s farmland to find out where and how nature can bounce back.

And the results are actually hopeful!

They found that:

1.2 million hectares, around a quarter of the farmland mapped, could be used to restore wildlife habitats.

600,000 hectares, about 800,000 football pitches worth, are perfect for planting trees and hedgerows.

And 700,000 hectares could be managed better to deal with droughts.

Over time, these can help improve food production, strengthen food security and protect farmers’ livelihoods.

One farmer in the study actually saved ÂŁ20 an acre by ditching insecticides, whilst another saved ÂŁ61,000 a year using cover crops and better rotations.

Solutions are out there for each corner of the globe; now we need to implement and scale them.
