Paris just transformed one of its busiest squares into an urban forest!
Over 2,500 square meters of concrete in front of City Hall were ripped up, and replaced with 4 groves, 150 trees, and thousands of plants.
Some trees are already over 10 meters tall.
They’ll help cool the area during heatwaves, clean the air, and create space for birds, insects, and shade-loving plants, and people too!
This is the third forest Paris has planted right in the city, and a fourth is already planned.
By 2030, Paris plans to plant over 170,000 trees and cover half the city with water-permeable surfaces, from green roofs to mini-gardens and tree-lined streets.
Would you like to see your city turn concrete into forest too?
