The Big Easy is closing …Boy it hurts to type that.

It was 20 years ago that Dodd Harris opened the shop and 15 years since he passed the baton over to me. In those 15 years it has been an amazing, challenging and rewarding journey. Through the faithful support of our customers I have been lucky enough to come to work in a place that was home to me. I am grateful for the amazing staff we have had over the years, for you our wonderful customers, the community of Studio City and to my friends and family.

I will miss so many things about our shop but at the top of that list it will be you! I don't think I could have imagined what happens when you open your doors to the public. Everybody and anybody walks in and everyday is unique in it's own way. I still see customers that I saw on our first day and even today I had a bunch customers who had just found us. I am grateful for all the people I have had the chance to connect with, become friends with, grow with and share my life with. I’m a lucky man.

It will be sad to see our doors close but even good things run their course. I'm okay with that. Being a fixture in the community for 20 years we have a lot to celebrate.

The good news…I'm keeping the brand The Big Easy as my passion for ci**rs is still intact. I'm not ready to share my upcoming plans for The Big Easy Cigar Shop Studio City quite yet but please follow us on our social media platforms to keep in the loop. I'll be sharing some ideas soon.

As much as closing the shop is a bum out, I'm excited to see what's next. I have been reminded over these last few weeks that we can't define ourselves simply by what we do for a living. Who I am is not tied to an address or a career. Saying that does take some of the fear out of change. I'm ready for what's next and ready to celebrate what was.

We'll be closing our doors for good this weekend. We're going to throw a birthday/funeral party tonight and we are going to have an estate sale Saturday and Sunday. So come in this weekend and take a piece of The Big Easy home with you.
