Sometimes life runs full force and at mead family market we’re only human so running a day late we present our G.O.A.T-orade nominee Spotlight: Caydence Franz #9 of the Morton Huskies volleyball team!
Some accomplishments deserve a little extra recognition, and this week, we’re shining that spotlight on Caydence Franz. Being a freshman comes with a lot of firsts, a lot of learning, and a whole lot of growing. But Caydence didn’t come into this school year just looking to find her place. She came ready to earn it. Caydence is one of the freshmen who earned a spot on Morton’s varsity volleyball team this year, and that's an accomplishment worth celebrating! Stepping onto a varsity court as a freshman means competing alongside athletes with more experience and years of growth behind them. It takes confidence to put yourself out there, humility to keep learning, and a whole lot of grit to earn that opportunity. She also earned a spot on the varsity basketball team. Two varsity teams as a freshman, That’s no small feat!
Making varsity as an underclassman is an accomplishment all on its own. Doing it in not just one, but TWO sports says something about the dedication, determination, and work ethic this young athlete is bringing to the table. These opportunities don't just happen. They come from putting in the work, pushing yourself to improve, and being willing to compete at a higher level, even when you're one of the youngest in the room. But what makes Caydence special isn't just the teams she's earned a place on. It's the heart she brings to them. Caydence takes tremendous pride in her performance and works hard to give her best every single game. She brings a positive attitude, works extremely well with her teammates, and sees her team as so much more than a group of people wearing the same jersey. To her, they're family. And that matters! Because being a great athlete isn't just about improving your own game; it's about understanding that your teammates are part of the journey, too. And when practice ends, Caydence isn't necessarily done working. She's putting in extra practice on her own, continuing to push herself because this is about more than just showing up on game day. Volleyball is something she truly loves. It's an outlet, a place to work through life, and something that brings her comfort and purpose. It's her therapy. When something means that much to you, the effort you put into it goes far beyond what anyone sees from the stands. Her coach sees that potential, too! In talking about Caydence, her coach highlighted her speed, athleticism, and natural ability, calling her a great addition to the team. Just as importantly, Caydence is a hard worker who continues to learn, takes coaching, and puts in the effort to grow. She still has plenty of room to develop, and that's part of what makes her journey so exciting. Her coach is looking forward to watching her gain confidence, build experience, and continue to grow as a player, sharing that the future is bright for Caydence and expressing pride in the work she's putting in, And we think there's something really special about that. Caydence, we hope you know that we see you! We see the extra work, the dedication, the love you have for your team, and the determination it takes to compete at the varsity level in two sports as a freshman. You don't have to be the loudest person in the gym or the most experienced player on the court to make an impact.
Sometimes, being a G.O.A.T. looks like the freshman who's willing to learn from every challenge. It's the athlete who practices when nobody is watching, gives her best when the game gets tough, treats her teammates like family, and keeps showing up with a positive attitude because she cares about something bigger than herself. Keep chasing those goals, keep loving the game, and keep being the teammate your team can count on. You have every reason to be proud of the work you've put in and the opportunities you've earned. We're excited to see where that hard work takes you!
